Videos will monster your data. I have 500mb and I use 3g more that an hour a day plus BBM is a main part of my communication (bbm pics etc). At the end of my month I have 400mb left. I try to watch you tube over wifi which obviously will save on your MB's.

Yep, Im usually on Wifi most of the time (Work and Home). I used to have the 2gb data plan but realized I was only using about 300mb/month. So I switched to 500mb to save some money.
That includes 3G, numerous emails, texts, light Pandora use, Youtube streaming, Telenav once in a while, BBM, and Twitter running all day
I have a 1gb data plan and last month I consumed just over 200mb and that's with facebook, alot of software downloads, bbm, google maps and so on. It was my first month with that phone so I suspect my data to be even less this month.
I read I think here that Opera Browser takes 10% less data than the bb browser. Perhaps that could be good if you are affraid you take too much data.
I bridget to my PB, BBM, e-mail here and there and I barely crack 500mb a month.
When I had my Droid X, I would easily go 2gigs/month. Perhaps I don't use data as much on my phone or at least the apps on my BB are less data intensive than the android apps.
So with my BB, 1GB of data is more than enough for me. With my X, 2gigs would just cut it.
Bear in mind BB is the only device that compresses data through its servers so you won't be using as much data as other devices. Better to pay more for higher limit up front then pay overages on a lower data cap, then review your month's usage and adjust your plan accordingly
Streaming audio via the mobile network will definitely use a lot of data. I do not tether and do not have a Playbook (so no bridge). I've used over 100 MB in a single day by streaming TuneInRadio and Pandora for a few hours.
Podcast downloads also use a lot of data if downloaded via the mobile network.
The best way to determine usage since yuo know already what you are going to do depending on your carrier like VZW for the 9930 and the other carriers for 9900 usually have a data calculator on the website to help you, that is what I did and use WIFI as much as I can. I still use the grandfathered 150mb plan from VZW when I dropped unlimited to cut cost and still manage with that because of WIFI.
Unlimited data is great, I don't know where the OP is, but in the UK it's quite hard to come by these days I think. When I recently upgraded to my 9900 500mb was the most Vodafone would even offer!
They told me I only use average of 120mb a month! I never get a good signal around here, so all the streaming/downloading I do is via wifi, when I'm out and about I just bbm and web surf etc. That limits my requirements a lot.
