Default How many BB phone manufacturers are there?

    From Australia.

I'm on my 4th BB phone and have never had an issue. I have a friend who I talked into getting a Bold 2 years ago who went through 3 in under 12 months. He's now gone to Android.
Yesterday spoke to a client who is now on his 4th Bold under 10 months.

Both had there phones under contract from Telstra who now it seems just have boxes of them under the counter and swap over the duds as they come in, seemingly with no questions asked:

"Oh you have a Bold playing up?.....Here try this one" was the last conversation in store.

How is this possible? Are there different factories worldwide producing different quality products?

I'm sure these 2 guys aren't the only one's suffering with inferior hardware, telling others and damaging the brand.

I'm on my 3rd bold. 9700,9780,now 9900. Never a build quality issue with any of them. Not sure what issues these people are having but I've never seen it. I'm sure as with any mass produced product there are going to be flaws with a select few but I have a hard time beleiving there are (batches?) With issue upon issue.

The ones with most problems seem to be made in Mexico for some reason... My current 9900 is from mexico and is perfect though. Most try to go for Hungary or Canada, however Canadian phones are VERY rare now as they're so mass produced. My last canadian was a 9000, recent ones have been Hungary as I'm in Europe.

Guess I'm one of the fortunate ones. Bought mine new July 2012. Never had an issue with my 9900. It was made in Mexico. Very happy with my Blackberry Bold 9900!

2nd BB9900. First one developed a screen flicker, this second one gets hot during use and constantly experience battery issues - thing won't last whole day, signal reception is so-so, although 7.1.0.569 helped.. I suspect some sort of hardware issue, but can't be certain. Both made in Mexico.

Went through 4 9780's before giving up on that model (all made in Mexico). Contemplating dumping this 9900 and getting a cheapo 9320 to get me through the day. Mainly concerned with having quality signal, battery life and hardware that is well assembled - so far I haven't had much luck with Mexico-made hardware. ... Nearly to the point where I'm fed up with blackberrys (love the features, but seriously sick and tired of the hit'n'miss hardware quality)

Contemplated switching to android, but can't see myself tinkering with rooting, bootloading, hacking, this & that just to get it working like a phone should. Let's face it: Google's android OS is a beta project - one "foodie" version after another. Plus I can't see myself talking on a phone and sounding like I'm using a tin can with a string attached (Samsung, HTC, LG, etc - perhaps the only good sounding android is the Motorola Razr maxx...).

    Not much choice is there.
