How do I find out which application delivers this annoying advertisement?
I get this very annoying advertisement once every few days, and I wish to find out which installed application is delivering it. (See the attached picture)
Although I understand that developers get benefits from these ads, however this particular advertisement is purely annoying because:
- Occupies screen and does not quit no matter what button I press
- Flashes LED annoyingly
Please offer your recommendation, thank you. - 12-14-2012, 08:45 PM #2
well you should get a sense after which app you downloaded did the advertisement started

thank you Diok. As I mentioned in the post, it only happens once every a few days, so it is difficult to tell exactly which application the ad belongs to

ok it might be fustrating but i would suggest uninstalling your apps then reinstalling them one by one give it some time to see if ads return then you'll know for sure

Oh, the links I posted are to appworld so safe, I'd believe!
Well, looking up the app turns up this:
Buy Stealth Book - Hide your Contacts Calls Sms and Email Conversations - Download Stealth Book - Hide your Contacts Calls Sms and Email Conversations - Buy Apps from BlackBerry App World
And following the link to their other apps turns up:
Oswald Designs - BlackBerry App World
Any of those apps installed? - 12-15-2012, 01:07 AM

F2 you are very cool!

I recommend changing your default permission levels. I recall that out of the box they are set to allow everything. If an app then doesn't work without requiring unjustifiable levels of permission, time to rethink whether you want the app there. App World isn't the Play Store, but I believe we've seen our share of sketchy apps.

Hopefully, you can either change its permissions or delete it and it will stop pestering you. But then again, I guess, "pestering" is the price you pay for getting the app you want for free????

thank you for the suggestions.
So far I have not discovered the permission which controls such advertising behaviour. My default permissions are quite tight - most interactive permissions are disabled and connectivity permissions are at prompt. The particular application I installed "expense manager" seems to behave pretty well as I rejected some of its permissions, and it still runs without any problem.
But I uninstalled it anyway, this advertisement is way too annoying even for a free application.
