Hello, I am new to this forum, and thank you for reading this first post.

I had a chance to listen to the music on a friend's blackberry (I am not sure which blackberry, maybe 9700?) and surprised how great it sound! This is the main reason I started to think about getting one for myself, as a music player (without earphones) as well as a regular cellphone. I tried 9320 but it did not sound good as I expected. I also heard that 9000 has the best sound.

So, I would like to know weather 9900 sounds good as 9000, or if it sounds much better than 9320 at least, etc.
I also would be appreciate to know the speaker quality ranking of blackberries.

    Thank you in advance!

The 9930/9900 speaker sounds fine. It's as good if not better than my previous Blackberrys.

BlackBerry 9900 uses snapdragon CPU which has dedicated acceleration for sound.

It sounds better than 9000 and 9700.

    It sounds better than 9000...
Have to disagree with you on that.

The 9900 speaker sounds fine... but not a patch on the 9000's stereo speakers

I was referring to headphones sound...
I didn't knew 9000 comes with stereo speaker phone.
9000 has louder speaker than 9900.

The 9900 is not at all bad with high bitrate MP3 files. Maybe not quite a 9000 but darned good.

Thank you all for the replies.

I happened to see the thread below and just could not let it go from my mind being impressed how he was impressed by the old 9000.

... though I wonder if he is still using 9000 till now
But, I also learned that 9900 sounds great reading your post.
Then again, I still really want to listen to the stereo sounds of 9000. Maybe I will buy it if I can get it in a low price.

Thank you again, for giving me all the clues!

I like the sound of my BB 9900 speaker, it is plenty loud and really sounds decent. Keep in mind that you won't get stereo sound since there is only one speker, but realistcally would you really get true stereo sound with two seakers maybe an inch or two apart?

IMO, the speaker sounds okay, but it is a built-in unit. The sound also comes out of a single hole at the bottom of the back, so the sound can be distorted from some angles. On-par probably with the iPhone speaker, but audiophiles won't be happy with this.

I found overall the built in speaker in most of these phones generally sounds crappy. Some sound a bit better than others. My 9900 actually sounds worse to me than my 9800. For voice only the speaker is not too bad, but for music I cannot stand them.

There are some excellent quality Bluetooth earphone (ear-buds) that sound excellent for music. On the Blackberry phones that I have tried this type of earphone sounds great for everything. I have used both the Sony and the JVC earphones and had excellent results. I found the Sony DRBT100CX series earphone to sound particularly good.
