So I live in india and was going through vodafone's 3g plans, I noticed they had a special plan for Blackberry's but its costs too much and overkill for my needs, so I was wondering if i will be okay with a 'normal' 3G plan. Pease Help clear this confusion!

Without BIS your terminal will not be of much use.

List the specifics of the plan you're looking at. Then we can give an educated response, but I agree with kjell_j that without BIS you're BB will be severely limited.

Do you want to use / expect to use / plan to use any of the following?

BBMessenger
Blackberry EMail
PIN Peer to peer messaging

If NO then the phone will work on a 'normal' 3G plan, applications like whatsapp, twitter facebook *SHOULD* be able to bind to the correct gateway to access internet browsing services but have a test/read through these forums if you can before you commit to buying a plan that may not be any use to you.

Some carriers offer a BIS Lite package which allows BBM only (I think it is) so you would have to check.

If you DO plan to use ANY of the BB specific stuff then you WILL NEED a BIS plan.
