Google calendar help
I am having problems with the calendar on my new blackberry. When I add new events on my phone calendar they do not sync or appear on my Google calendar. Now when I add events on my computer using Google calendar they show up on my blackberry after I sync. So basically it is like one way syncing.
I've searched this forum and the internet as much as I can stand, any help would be greatly appreciated. - 08-21-2011, 08:40 PM #2
If I recall there is a some set up you will have to do on your google side of it. Its been a while and its changed a bit. Sounds like you are on one way sync right now.

I use GMail and everything worked well with email, calendar and contacts right away, but you may want to check under message options and Email Reconciliation. Make sure the Wireless Reconcile box is checked. I don't know if this is the issue or not. I was just looking into what your issue might be and saw that. Maybe someone else can expand on what that does exactly.

I just checked, thanks for the advice, but it was already checked. I originally was using Google sync; this is what was only doing one way syncing. I have since uninstalled that program and check the boxes under email management for contact and calendar syncing. Rebooted, everything I can think of, still no luck.

I can't get the football fixtures on my Google calendar to sync across to my BlackBerry calendar, I have wireless synchronisation ticked on the BB and even tried the Google Sync app, but neither worked for transferring those over. However, it did transfer over events that I'd added to the Google calendar from my iPhone. Any ideas why the football fixtures (added online) aren't being synced?

@TheMafro - google will only sync with your main calendar. any extra calendars like sports calendars will not sync.
@bwood - delete the email address from your PHONE and readd from your PHONE. dont use the BIS site to add a gmail address; the sync doesnt work right if you do.
the reason the entries aren't showing up on ur gmail account when you add from the phone is most likely because you aren't adding it to the correct calendar. when you create a calendar entry, it goes under the default calendar. if that default is NOT set to your gmail, it will never show up on your gmail account.
Under settings>default services, you can change your default calendar to gmail. additionally, you can remove the other calendars from your phone (like other email calendars that you dont use. I had one for each email address. No need for SIX calendars!). Go to your service books and delete all the CCAL books other than your gmail one. The other calendars will be gone and you will only have the gmail one.
so to summarize...
1) Delete and readd gmail ON THE PHONE. NOT from the BIS site.
2) Set default calendar to Gmail.
3) Test it out!
(Keep in mind the gmail sync can take like 20 min to start)

I was wondering if the BIS GMail syncing replaces the Google Sync app completely or not? Also, when you say delete the GMail account on the phone, does that delete or break the link via Service Books to the messages already on the device?

@crigga84 - experiment with following my instructions while connected to wifi and then with wifi off. Sometimes a weird connection can cause issues.
@dimmok - i can't say with 100% certainty but im fairly certain that removing the email address from the phones email setup application will indeed remove all messages and service books associated. thats not a bad thing...

Guys,
I posted this in another thread and not getting any hits. I am impatient to get this done so here's my issue:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ok guys, I need your help since I'm about to make a leap to syncing my calendar and contacts via BIS to Google.
Currently syncing my Storm2 to Outlook via BT/usb cable.
My default email on my Storm2 is not Gmail.
I have a gmail account and have no calendar events
I have imported all of my contacts from Outlook to Google.
If I enable BIS sync:
Will all of my contacts on my Storm2 duplicate on Google?
Is it still the case that only events I enter going forward will appear in the Google desktop calendar and it will not pick up existing events on my Storm2. Is that right?
Any settings on Google I have to enable?
What about PIMs settings on BlackBerry Desktop Manager?
Any other tips and/or steps will be helpful.
TIA "

Howdy, I am having issues with the BIS sync of my gmail. So I decided to revisit this thread to see if you guys have any advice, rather than start a new thread.
Basically it was working fine for a while on my 9900 and now for some reason when I add a new calendar entry it enters it on the default calendar rather than gmail. When I go to change my default calendar there is no option for my gmail account, only for BBM groups and my att.blackberry email.
Should I just remove and re-add the gmail account to BIS? Will that allow me to change the default calendar to gmail? Im not sure I want to do it until Im sure because I like having my old emails on the 9900..

Weaselnoze, do you know any solution so that this might work? So far I've tried sync clients such as Google Sync, Funambol, also sync through BB Desktop Software (Mac). On my old phone (Android) this worked perfect... As does it on iCal.
I use about three extra calendars to be honest. So, for me, it is of some importance...
EDIT:
There seems to be a possibility using Google Sync, but it is not perfect. However, this will do for now.Last edited by SlapdaddyNL; 10-10-2011 at 06:36 AM.

Yeah, +1... I run another side business and have a calendar designated for such. I would like to do everything from my BB9930. If I have to add an event to my secondary calendar, i would like for it to show up on my laptop when I fire up the gmail calendar.
Hopefully this gets answered soon - 04-13-2012, 10:17 AM #17
One problem I've had since I had the 9000 is duplicate calendars. Also it says bbm groups are my default, in settings its my gmail. I too am using google sync app. Anyone know of a fix to this?

Calendar sync...possible solution
Please understand this may not be exactly what you're looking but:
Here's what I discovered, give it a shot. it's a working workaround, sorry it's not perfect, but you don't have to deal with millions of duplicates when you attempt to sync your Google Sync with the BB calendar app.
Do this:
Sign in to your Google account using BB's web browser. Then access the Calendar feature from a WEB PAGE. Do NOT use the BB Calendar application that's built into the memory. Google's mobile Calendar page will show you an agenda and a Quick Add space where you can add new events to your calendar WITHOUT EVER USING THE BB CALENDAR APP. It will sync to your Google calendar, and the only difference is, you bookmark in your Web favorites to access your calendar app. With BB's push browser, you'll stay as synced as you possibly can in real time, AND YOU ONLY HAVE TO INPUT AN APPOINTMENT ONCE FOR IT TO STICK. And best of all, NO DUPES!
Sorry if I am on the late freight, but hey, it took me a few weeks on my new BB 9360 Curve to get it to work this way. Hope it helps!
One more thing...make sure you hide the BB calendar so you don't accidentally access it instead of the web.
Update: I've using this procedure since I first posted on 4/10/12 with NO PROBLEMS...NONE!!!
