What is a good 7.0 build for 900? I just switched back to a 9900 with os 7.1 on it, and the phone is very unresponsive, and very lagggy. I'm wondering if downgrading to OS 7.0 would help resolve this problem.

P.S: tried 523, 569, and the BL 7.1 hybrid, none of them help, had to perform multiple battery pulls to get the phone working....

    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it's time for a full wipe.

All 3 of the OS's you mention are very good ones so are unlikely to be the culprit.

    Maybe a dodgy app ???

I've been running AT&T's 7.0.0.576 with no issues. Call quality is excellent, battery is acceptable, good wifi and it talks to my playbook, that's all I need. I had no luck with any of the 7.1 versions and tried them all.

You didn't mention the microphone issue, but from what I've seen on this forum, the incompatibility of AT&T's network with the majority of the OS 7.1 releases prevents most AT&T users from making the switch.

From my experience, OS 7.1 has steadily improved with each release and I have not considered downgrading. If your phone won't work for whatever reason with OS 7.1, you should wipe it and try loading the latest release.

7.0 has a lot of issues that 7.1 does not...

A lot of users are saying 7.1.0.437 does not have the AT&T microphone issue.

Never had the mic issue with any of the 7.1 versions but then I never traveled with any of them. 7.0 worked fine for me on my last trip from FL to AK. My problem is the face dialing, putting callers on hold, switching calls to speaker, etc. It only happens on my phone with 7.1 and never happens with AT&T's 7.0. I have wiped the phone several times, removed all apps and tried the latest 7.1 version, nothing works. It may be a problem in my phone but AT&T won't replace it because it works fine with their OS, and I can't fault them for that. 7.0 will do until BB10 comes out, then the 9900 will go on eBay.

Im with the OP. Ive tried all the same versions and cant find one thats stable.

Ive had daily problems with -

dropped calls while having full service, although this was only visible in one build if I remember correctly

no sound when making or receiving a call, FML this is so frustrating

BBM works on and off, currently get the red X for some reason

These are very annoying issues to face multiple times a day. Oddly enough Ive had no problems with battery life or freezing which I hear alot of complaints on.

I have years of experience in the mobile industry and have had 100's of phones, and probably about 25 BB's dating back to the 7100 era. I know what to look for when there is problems.

This is a brand new phone and my second Bold 9900. IF these extremely aggravating problems werent around, I would be VERY impressed with this phone.

Any help would be much appreciated as Im a few days away from smashing this thing off a wall and going back to Android or iPhone, which I really dont want to do, I just want a phone that works - wow

Also, Ive spoken to many of my former coworkers in the field and they ALL have negative things to say about this phone. How can that be? Literally 10 or so people with years of specific experience in mobile communications. I KNOW there's people out there that love the 9900/9930 and dont have issues as well, and I want to be one of those people.

    Thanks

Have you heard of letting the OS settle? As Phill said and I agree 7.0 is far worse than 7.1. Try different versions of 7.1 before going to 7. I found .267 and .402 to be good to me. But if you want to go back further .205 was great also.

I have 7.1.0.437 ans it's the best build yet since I'm on AT&T wireless and can't go any higher in builds without the mic not working. There are no good 7.0 builds they all suck especially the battery life. Trust me go with 7.1.0.437 you won't regret it! Here is a link to the software on RIM's website.
