Default Gmail calendar sync and phone performance

    Hey All!

(Yeah been a long time i didn't check in..)

Quick question: Did anyone realize if syncing your Gmail calendar (by checking the "Calendar" option under your Gmail synchronisation settings) will affect the phone performance / speed?

I am on 7.1.0.342 and its being very slow at times, so I un-synced my Gmail account's calendar to see if it has any effect (i did notice some change or its only psychological, not sure hehe)

I haven't had any negative performance issues. I sync both contacts and calendar.

Any new apps installed? Uninstall apps, then install one by one testing device performance.

I was afraid to use the google sync app for my calendar and contacts as I read on crackberry that Google will stop offering this service. Have I read correctly?

Yes. Google has already disabled new downloads to the Google Sync app. The service so far seems to be working fine for people who already have Google Sync installed (or managed to get their hands on the COD file and are using it).

Google did hint that they MAY be stopping the syncing via the app by Sept / Oct.

JFTR, the OP is NOT talking about Google Sync, but about the BIS Synchronisation.

... which sucks for those of us that have Google Sync for synchronizing multiple subscribed calendars. I am still not aware of any workarounds or solutions to that problem if Google stops the syncing service. Is anyone?
