Does anyone know if the new bold will be housing the flat trackpad, or the stupid curved one? I'm guessing flat, just wondering if anyone can confirm.

I think its safe to say that since the device is still a work in progress, it could really go either way. I do know that the Touch is in limited use as a pre release and the design is still subject to change before the official is rolled out to the masses. All I know is I want one.

What is meant with "curved trackpad" (I never had the Torch in my hands)? Is it something like the trackpad on the 9300 (Curve 3G)? Yesterday I noticed that it's much more elevated than the one on my 9780.

Yes, it's the same one on the curve 9300/30. It's curves / elevated. It's at more in-responsive than the flat one and also your fingers get stuck on it of they are the slightest bit damp.

I'm guessing that it will be flat based on how much its thinness is being touted. I'm sure they aren't going to leave the middle of the phone bulging out.

Is the Trackpad on the Curve 3G the Same as the 8520?
If yes, It's very different

Notice the Outer Silver Curve Squared Trackpad's Border, It's more like Bolder on 9780 than the 8520 (Please do not look at the Pics above)

I think the Dakota will have the Flat 9780's type trackpad

The curve 3G has the temperamental raised trackpad and the 8520 has the nice flat one.

Humm, didn't even realize they had different track pads...granted my 9700 is the only trackpad I have owned...all other Berry's had the trackball...

yup, you could indeed be correct... if it is, I hope rim have fixed it..
