Does your 9900 mute calls, switch to speaker, dial numbers or any other unwanted command while on a call? A search shows this was an issue for some early on but not much lately, just wondering if has been fixed with OS updates or just something we are supposed to get used to and people stopped complaining.

I'm replacing a dead 9800 that would face dial on 1 out of 5 calls, I'll go back to a curve or my 9000 before I put up with that again.

    Thanks for your input.

How DARE your face do that... haven't you taught it any manners?? LOL

joking aside, I haven't had much of a problem with that, as I use my bluetooth headset on the road and at home.... I have the Jabra behind the ear model (BT5020) and works great, and super comfortabe for all day use.. yes, it may be discontinued now, but is still going strong!

I find that holding the phone to my head either with my hand or my shoulder, just is not comfortable for me.

YES!!! Very annoying indeed. I have since downloaded the 'FaceLock' app which basically locks the screen during calls (you have to slide to unlock). No problems thus far...

If you mean Talklock, I've used it on the 9800, it helped but it still missed 1 out of 10. Swipelock was worse, 50/50 at best.

Hands free is not an option, I need the phone to work like it was designed or have the option to disable the touch pad.

Nope, it's called FaceLock - do a search for it in AppWorld. I haven't had any troubles with it.

Happens to me all the time, mad annoying.. I use my left ear which could be the issue (sensor is on the right side of the phone by the LED) just lock the phone when you enter a call and it won't be a problem

I agree here with Rayzian. You don't even need an app for this. All you need to do is hit the lock button on the top of the phone after you've dialed the call and you don't have to worry at all about face dialing, face muting, or anything else like that.

Never had this happen on mine.

My 9800 would switch to speaker phone when I had the charger plugged in. That was annoying when I was on conference calls.

I too have this issue. And its gets real annoying. I initially thought it was because of the theme i had, then faced it on the stock theme too.

Recently after reading the "lock" feature in another thread, i started locking the screen during calls. But most of the times i forget to do that. So still happens atleast once in a day.

No problems at all with face dialing, muting, etc.
I did have problems with face muting a while back but not for a long time. It disappeared with an OS update a while back. Definitely nothing on 7.1.0.402.

If the user wanted a 9810, they would have bought a 9810.

Why doesn't the proximity sensor fix this for us??

    A bit late here.
My light sensor disables the screen while the phone is against my face. Just have to put the speaker part to my ear before the screen hits my cheekbone. I still do put the phone on hold by accident when the other side is loud and the phone away from my face etc.

If it annoys you enough to pay for a solution, I recommend Pattern Lock by Tafasa. Among many other options, It has a configurable timer option to lock the screen during a phone call.

    I love Pattern Lock!
