Default Email issue and PDFs - At wits end about to leave bold 9900

    Ok calling all gurus.

Mad blackberry fan until now. Using the 9900 and have a constant email issue in two parts. I've read forums everywhere and tried many different tips to solve with no luck, so decide if anyone will know it's the forumites here.

Have a exchange account/business mailbox with a domain and it has never quite worked on the 9900. Setup goes fine, in the options it is displaying as an imap account.
Email comes in to both BB and laptop. The frustrating part comes when I read email on the laptop. Every email i read then displays as a new mail on the BB so it's like getting a new email Everytime I read it on the laptop.

The other issue is some PDF attachment come in with 'error in parsing message'. The PDF cannot be displayed.

When setting up the same mail on android, windows and IOS no issue at all with either of the above, which sucks because I would rather use the 9900.

    Any ideas?

Have you tried Docs To Go? I think that may solve your beef. As per the new email situation, I'm afraid I can't give you any help in that regards, sorry!

    Default Hosted BES

My advice would be to look at a hosted BES solution. BlackBerry e-mail without BES is frankly not up to scratch, and IMAP with BIS isn't anywhere near as good as with iOS or Android. You'll pay about $20 per month to a third party hoster and you may have to pay an extra amount to your cellular company for a BES connection, but if you use e-mail all the time you won't regret it.

Having to fork out more for BES just to use the features available on every other device isn't a great proposition.

What is weird is that other pop email accounts do not have the same issue on the device when I read them on the computer. It is only the exchange/business mail account set as an imap that does.

Is there a setting or something simple that I am missing here that makes it come up as unread when I read on the laptop?

On your BB go to your email icon. Then options/email reconciliation. Set it to "handheld wins". That was my only thought. As for PDF, the OP who said Docs to Go is correct I think.

Exchange is notoriously petty when it comes to working on a Blackberry.

From what I have read, it would probably easier to install BES Express and use the Exchange account through that (which also gives you alot of control over the phone) rather than try and install the exchange account on its own on the phone.

I've tried everything to no avail. And really don't want to go back to pop with that account.
