I never have used NFC to scan anything because I have NEVER seen a NFC tag in person anywhere so far. Why are you asking these question?

I want to find out if there is any interest for NFC and if 9900/9930 owners are able to use it if they had a NFC application.

It looks like that some carriers are blocking NFC and I want to find out which one and with what BB OS they block NFC.

    Update
I'm with SaskTel and since it's such a small company by comparison, I wiped my phone and installed the official OS to test this. 9900/7.0.0.261 (B1355), Platform 5.0.0.469. The only official SaskTel OS for the 9900 supports NFC out of the box

Initial OS from Verizon did NOT have NFC present in the connection manager. It seemed to be completely disabled.

No, you aren't missing something -- the OS update is MANDATORY for NFC support (i.e., VZW chose not to include it in the OS for the 9930 at release).

     BlackBerry Bold 9930 (aka Touch), OS v7.0.0.362 (rel 1702), Platform 5.0.0.552, VZW 

Official OS 7.0.0.374 for the BlackBerry Bold 9930 now available from Verizon | CrackBerry.com

This release "officially" supports NFC for Verizon 9930! :-)

UPDATE: I have installed this update (from .362 released about a month ago by PTCI), and I have confirmed that NFC works in the "official" Verizon release. Direct download for Desktop Manager install:
