Default Confused: should I try to update OS?

    Hi there,

I received a 9900 yesterday, and I'm still getting to grips with it. Love it so far.

I've looked through here to try to work out whether I should try to update the OS. Not sure how to find out which one I've currently got. Couldn't work out what to do for the best. Any advice? Including how to find out (i.e. where to look) what OS is loaded on it?

    Thanks for any help

On the home screen press left Alt and Shift key and press H. Look for the app version. That'll tell you what version you've installed on your machine.

    Many thanks, both of you

Should I try to update? Many thanks again.

Welcome to CrackBerry. Unless you are comfortable with BB OS change maybe giving yourself a bit of time with the device is better than rushing to update the OS. In my hands updating is the first day to the latest available but my experience allows a bit of risk taking. Others may not be so comfortable with what may happen along the way.

In any event there is lots of good information to be found here for all levels of owner experience. Enjoy.

I wouldn't bother as .714 is pretty stable.

Like Phil says, .714 is good. My most recent update was to .825. In my hands this may be the best OS ever (been on this since OS4). 7.0.1.825 is a real winner all round so far.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. At the same time, nobody ever learned anything from not trying. I like to do it just to say I did. LOL
