I know from a previous thread that your trackpad is lavender but is it slightly or exaggerated twisted counterclockwise? I ask because I have friend with the almost the same specs and the twist is quite pronounced. I'm reticent to replace it because the call-end panel is flush with the screen i.e. it doesn't have that annoying edge you feel when your finger slides down from the screen to the panel.

Thanks UrbanGlowCam but is the PRD number the number below the SIM card logo (read: not the port itself )
I dont have the 9900 yet but by monday i would buy it
Am VERY scared i dont want to start using mine and outside of the return policy days it would get bricked
I really want the 9900 but am scared, am buying it $600 off contract -we dont have contracts in my country
If am going to buy, i would buy the one that has 2 stickers at the back instead of 1
from your image the old one has only sticker while the new one has 2 stickers - 11-11-2011, 01:34 PM

I kinda like the white/lavender. It makes it look like something out of Tron lol. I think they're all somewhat that shade. As far as crooked trackpads, my first one had it and it was only noticeable if you look closely. The new one is almost perfect. Due to this one's sensitivity issues, I'm receiving a 3rd tomorrow. I will update you then as well as the original post if there are any noticeable differences.
Hey there. The PRD number is on the larger white sticker above the simcard in my pictures. The same is true for both devices. You will see it actually SAY "PRD-xxxxx-xxx" so you can't miss it.
I'd hope the problem is fixed with newer devices if it's a hardware issue. I think worst case, you should be able to have it repaired by RIM but I'm not too familiar with that. The good thing with buying through a carrier is that they can help you out with that very quickly. At least that's how Verizon has been for me.
As far as the amount of stickers on the back, I don't know if that is what you should be looking for. My second device with the 2 stickers is actually a refurbished device from Verizon. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but it may. I wouldn't worry about how many stickers the info is split into. Hopefully you get a good device!Last edited by UrbanGlowCam; 11-11-2011 at 01:39 PM.

I'm almost tempted to replace it due to the twist but I've seen circa 50 of these devices and none of them are perfect in terms of alignment - they all seem to have some sort of twist...some worse than others. How's the flush-ness of the call end panel to the screen? Mine's flush which makes me not want to replace it just because the trackpad is misaligned i.e. I think they all are.

No issues here!
My Bold 9930 is PRD-39474-001 - Verizon - Mexico 5 with no issues, actually it works quite flawlessly and I've had it for almost 2 months now with latest Verizon OS update. I haven't noticed any slow downs, excessive battery drainage, slow boot times and I have quite a few apps running! Keyboard is perfect, no chipping or anything, trackpad is well aligned...it leads me to believe that the bricking issue isn't hardware related but OS 7 and compatibility related (such as apps, etc). And there's an interesting trend I've noticed on the forums, the Bold 9900's seems to be the one where bricking is more frequent, it could just be that there are more 9900s than 9930, but just thought I could point that out.
Let's hope it continues working well! - 11-12-2011, 09:30 AM #40
Sprint 9930
PRD - 39474-003
MEXICO 5
No issues, wicked awesome smartphone, so glad to come back after testing the Android market. Purchased one day before official Sprint release at the local Sprint store. Not one day of regret, missed my 8330 and was thinking about just having it reactivated but then the 9930 came out. -

Telus 9900
PRD-39473-001
Mexico 4
I've had the 9900 pretty much since launch and everything was good until the big BB data outage. I just woke up and was not yet aware of the BB outage that morning, so I rebooted the phone to see if that would get the data going again and bam, there was the white screen. At the time, I was on software version 296. I'm now on 374 and no issues since then.
My wife's 9900 is the same Mexico 4/PRD build and has had no issues at all. - 11-12-2011, 01:06 PM #46

I'm glad so many of you aren't having problems. I hope it stays that way. I still want to include your info of course. But for those of you with access to a bricked device or no someone with one, please have them post here so we can see from which batch more come from. So far we're seeing Verizon and Rogers.
That is weird. It's possible it was manufactured before the Rogers devices. There seems to be a correlation between the PCB numbers and when they were manufactured along with which batch they're from. Hopefully we can find a trend here. Thanks for the info!
Of course! I'm adding them all along the way in chunks. Thank you so much for the help.
I'll put you down for two then. Thank you!CH Design - http://www.cameronhirbodi.com - 11-12-2011, 01:13 PM #49
