First of all, I'm smartphone-challenged, but I'll do my best to describe and hope that someone can assist me! I recently updated my Bold 9930 BB software to 7.1.0 / 2123. Since then, every day I get a "phone email message" -- it shows up as an email on my phone but not in my regular email -- to download the app Classic Battleship. I've done everything I know (admittedly that isn't a lot!) to get rid of this but every day it's back. Is there something I triggered with the software update that I don't know how to "untrigger?"

Try this...

Options > Third Party Applications > Personalisation & Privacy for App World > Collection of Usage Date = Disabled > Apply This Setting to All Applications = check

so i dont want to jinx myself but my battleship didnt come back today so maybe something worked, unless its just fooling me
did anyone send a request to someone else? becasue i sent one to my sister, she deleted the request and i made sure it wasnt on my phone anywhere anymore(deleted folder, bb apps downloads, message center etc), then i restarted my phone
i also wrote a nasty review on the game... somthing worked for me, today anyway

These are developers who spam us with messages, asking us to install other apps. There are numerous of these 'spam apps' in AppWorld and I'm amazed that RIM allows developers to subtlety spam us. Annoying...

It's been two days and no Classic Battleship app! I went thru the instructions from Phill again, and disabled all three areas. Who knows, maybe this did the trick. Let's hope it holds and no more 'spam apps'!
