    Question Charging and battery drainage

    Hey folks..

I did a basic search of the forums and I couldn't find a thread with this exact issue...

I'm running 7.1.0.402, but this has occurred with all the OSs that I've had installed.

I charge my phone overnight and as soon as I take it off the charger, it goes from 99+ to about 95 in about a 15-20 minute time span. In other words, it discharges very fast.

I'll then put my phone back on the charger, re-charge it, and when I take it off the charger for the second time, the battery discharges at a normal rate.

For example: at 1030am this morning, I put my phone back on the charger to recharge and now, at 12:05pm, it's only at 96%, whereas the first time, it was down to 95% after 20 minutes.

Is this some kind of known bug, or is there an issue with my charger? I use my PlayBook charger to recharge...

    Thanks..

    -Chav

i remember that happening before with my 9860. makes me think that sometimes the battery indicator cant be trusted. also couldve been that you caught the phone in a mid discharge cycle to prevent overcharging.

    Hey Dictoresno,

Thanks for replying. I appreciate it.

Is there any way I can prevent this from happening, or do i always have to 'double charge'?

Is there any way to know if it's being caught in mid cycle or not really..?

    1. Are all your apps closed?
    2. Are your social apps refreshing?
    3. Do a battery pull, then charge it 100%, does it still drop?

Personally, .402 was great at first. Then I had issues with Mobile Hotspot, and the day before I downgraded to .342 it got real buggy on me. I’d get a random vibrate alert, I took it off the charger after an overnight charge and my battery meter read 85%.

So, maybe try a different OS. I recommend .342.

    To answer your questions:

    1) Only apps I have open are the ones that the phone won't close<bbm, messages, etc>.
    2) I have no social apps except BBM, which stays open
    3) Tried numerous battery pulls and then charging it..nothing helped.

Maybe I should try downgrading to 342 again....

I'd give that a shot. I've used every OS available and my least favorite is .402 followed by .340.

My most favorite are .342 followed by .267 and .163.

    Dict,

That's very interesting that you should mention that it happens with your iPhone as well. I thought that it was an issue with my phone. Maybe it isn't

I'm going to try to downgrade to .342 and see what happens...

Btw, my boss has an iPhone 4s..it's a cool device and I love playing with Siri

I think it is all depend on the OSs. I had 99+ with 7.1.0.402 and it was in a BB pouch.. Half an hour drive to work, I pulled my phone out and it is down to 94. With 7.0.0.585, same situation and I still get 99+ when I checked my phone at work.. So different OSs will discharge the battery differently.

the iphone is supposed to work like that..

it has a charge to full, no charge (allow discharge), charge to full, no charge (allow to discharge) cycle when left on the charger..

i, using .342 no open apps. but after installing fixmo tools i find my battery drained faster. tested it for the 3days. on the fourth day i removed it and it seems to be back to normal. from 730am to about 1am phone battery last with about 20% juice left. with fixmo installed im almost down to 40% by 4pm.

    Hi,
No doubt .402 is the best. Battery drain issues will surly come down with this os. I have suffered a lot with previous os but after updating my 9900 to .402...its wow..
using whatsapp, bbm, texts, emails, clicks, ilock, etc..and its give me almost 24 hours now on one charge..
i personally recommend that .402 is better than .342 or other os in case of Battery life.
