I'm in the process of buying a Bold 9900. Switching from iPhone 4. I heard about the "bricking" problem. My question is...if I wait for RIM to provide a "fix" will the new phone I buy still need the update or will it come already installed? I'm currently with AT&T.

Well, I've read most of the threads on this, and I own a 9930. From what I've learned, the bricking issue is software related. Since RIM will release the "fix" within an updated OS...I'd say its safe to bet grandma's jewels that when and if you do purchase your 99xx, and the "fix" has been deployed, your fone will be ready to go out of ze box. Good luck

Software is usually updated periodically through out the year and you can use other carrier's new software on the 9900 to deflect any issues/bricking as well.
