Just making a topic to see the relationship between carrier and battery life.

Please answer the 6 questions below:

    1) Phone Model: (9856/60,990/30,9810)

    2) Carrier (Rogers, Bell, Vodafone etc.)

    3) Battery Life: Discharge rate %/Hour (-6 hours, 6-12 hours, 12-18 hours, 18-24 hours, 24 hours+)

    4) Connections: WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, Network (2G, 3G/H+, 2G+3G/H+)

    5) App refresh rate: 15mins-1 hour etc.
    6) OS version

I have been reading a lot about battery life and the ups and downs lead me to think its the carriers problem. I left my 9700 on with about 40 apps installed updating only on wifi and had 3 full days average use. on network alone, about 2 days. Please post and help figure this out!

The actual relationship would be signal and battery life.

There are too many variables to try to figure out battery life with any accuracy. You would have to have identical usage and signal strength plus apps running on all of the devices. I personally get great battery life on my 993 0 and I use it pretty much all day heavily. If you can't get 8 full hours than something is wrong IMO.

I met a person today with the 9900 on tmo and he was complaining about his battery but he was also complaining about coverage. If your device is always searching for signal it will drain the battery fast.

With my first battery I struggled to get over 8 hours of life out of it no matter what I did. I swapped it at the store for a different one from a box that was returned unused, and the second battery is what I'm reporting on so far. Made it from 5pm the previous day till 7pm today without being powered off, at the 6:30 mark the radios died and then I played some NFS until it shut itself down at 7pm.

Pretty impressed as I used it heavily throughout that time and even left it on for the night on the headboard to see if it would survive. Night and day difference between the old and new battery. Now it's been off the portable charger since 9:30 or so and hasn't dropped a single percentage point, probably isn't calibrated to the new battery just yet.

Achieved pretty consistently after the OS settled in. Heavy bbm/texting with facebook updates and foursquare checkins every hour or so. Also made a few <5 min phone calls on a daily basis.

Screen brightness all the way down and BT and Wifi radios shut down when not in use. Also set the mobile network to 1XEV with sim card flip.

Stock os (.296, Vodafone UK) couldn't make 10 hours, and that's with no app refreshes, backlighting was %10 and 10 sec auto dim. Installed leaked .353 and its now better than my 9700. I am an excessive user. All day bbm with 2 people at least. Browse the web for 30 mins a day, sometimes play Jurassic Roller Coaster (graphic intensive game). Send/receive 2/15 emails. 20 text messages, some Whatsapp. At total 20 mins of talk time, and I take 4 5 photos everyday. Backlighting is %50 and auto dim is 20 sec.

I use use most of the apps with just the push notifications rather than just continually refreshing, as when i want to look at something i just load it up and refresh manually so i get an excellent battery life

The poll is a great idea. You are missing one very important piece of information imo. Signal strength. Cause, I am sorry, I don't care what you app refresh rate is, and what you are doing with your phone, if your signal is not strong enough, then your battery will die a quick and painful death...

Hardly anybody should really be using NFC right now though....

Also there's a bit of a difference between BT/Wifi idle, versus BT/wifi connected. So while you might have it enabled all the time, one person might be mostly idle except for a few situations, while someone else is connected all the time.

Wifi connected will cover up poor reception drain issues too...
