Running .340 on a Verizon 9930. I hide the Bing icon but it comes back after every reboot. I also changed my default search engine from Bing to Google and it returned back to Bing at some point. Reset it back to Google and has stayed through at least one reboot.

Could have lost the default search from screwing around with something else though.

Possible reload of OS may be required but I'm not sure of .340. .296 and .261 were fine.

I got it to work on mine by following these instructions:

    http://crackberry.com/change-default...e-blackberry-7

BTW, I'm still running .317 on my VZ 9930

    goodluck!

It must be part of the .340 build...

If i am correct, .340 isn't a direct vz release?

    maybe that's the problem?

    edit: I made a mistake, I'm actually running 7.0.0.254

The actually BING icon is pushed by Verizon, it takes you to a page so you can download the BING search application.
It'll never go away, just hide it.

Not sure but I installed it without deleting the vendor.xml because DM popped up and said update available so that leads me to believe it was leaked from vz. Or do all leaks come from RIM?

Re-read first post, it comes back after hiding it.

I've never herd of that happening before.
Well, I guess you're stuck with a pushed BING/Verizon spam icon.
