Hello all,

I am intelligent enough to buy a Blackberry BOLD 9900 two months back. I gifted myself for the New Year day.

For one thing, i couldnt resist my sluggish 8520 and wanted a faster phone for my browsing/apps.

Now i see that Z10 is released with 2 GB RAM and 1.5ghz processor. I am yearning for that speed since i still feel due to increased activity on my phone, the 9900 also is not able to handle.

My question is that can i upgrade the 768MB RAM to 2 GB? Does it work that way.

Even though ram is upgradable, it won't benefit much. Software is the bottleneck.

You can upgrade RAM for BB9900.
Buy 2GB DDR-3 laptop RAM and cello tape it on battery door.

Smartphones arent like computers... although you can now hook a monitor up to the z10 haha

No way DDR-3 is to slow better use DDR-5 it's much faster
but no you can't upgrade the ram on a regular way like in an laptop...

Unless you've run out of storage space for apps, adding ram (which can't be done anyhow), would not make things run any faster.

The z10 has a faster processor and a better operating system. Those are what make it better.

I know, everyone else has been having a snicker at this, but let me get to the point: no. The system memory isn't upgradeable. The Bold 9900 isn't particularly upgradeable, period, except for the ability to use up to a 32 GB microSD for storage, but that won't help your apps run any faster.

The Z10 is a completely different hardware/software platform and architecture. BB has been bragging about how there isn't a single line of code carried over from the "old school" BBOS.

The Bold 9900 is a wonderful phone, in its way, and BB will continue to support it, and at this point there are actually more apps available for it than there are for the Z10. You could do worse.
