This weekend I was visiting my daughter in Connecticut and my grandson noticed that I had a BB 9900. He is in college and a big BB messenger user. My grandson also noticed that I had a Playbook and asked to see them. Since his parents are both iPad and iPhone users I realized that this was my chance to show off my phone and the Playbook and it's bridging application. No luck! My phone was in sos status with no T-Mobile service and I did not have access to Wi-Fi. I was dead in the water and my daughter laughed while she surfed the golf and tennis scores at ease. I did a battery pull and still no service. The iPhones had 4 bar ATT service. And this is in a major Connecticut shoreline community where my old 8320 used to work without hesitation. Is there anything that I can do to my 9900 to improve my reception? On the good news side I just returned from a month in Paris where 9900 and Playbook worked like a charm.
There's an app called signal booster in app world, give that a shot. I have it on my phone, but only use it in dire straits . When I get the SOS (extremely rare) I just do a battery pull, and all is good thereafter.
What OS do you have on your phone? Try a new official or a leak to see of that solves any of your issues.
Yes, a 9700 may help. you can change the 9900 OS 10 times, but it will never have the same reception, its not software , unfortunatelly its hardware. The 9900 was made to live in good recption areas, dont try do use it in far away places...
Sounds like the T-mo 9900 isn't going into 2G-3G mode. The 8320 isn't 4G. DOesn't make sense that the 9900 won't work in the same area that the 8320 did. My 9900 works everywhere my 9780 did.
Inside great urban areas, the reception is generally good for most. But, For those who still have a 9700 in hands its clear that when you change the sim card from 9900 to 9700 in the same place you improve your reception. Anyone getting edge and SOS in some places, will get 3g downgrading to 9700 or 9780 or even 9790 (it have the same os 7 but not that steel case, wich could be the reason)
