I did some research in RIM's website and found that Bold 9900 is coming in 6 model numbers:

    RDE71UW, RDE72UW, RDV71UW, RDV72UW, RDY71UW, RDY72UW.

    Among them the following 4 have AT&T 3G Bands (1, 2, 5/6), namely 850/1900/2100:

    RDE71UW, RDE72UW, RDY71UW, RDY72UW.

The following 2 have 900/1700/2100 3G Bands (T-Mobile in US):

    RDV71UW, RDV72UW.

All 6 got FCC approval. More details are in the following RIM doc (see p. 41-43):

    http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartp...228-001-US.pdf

Bell Canada version got one of the following models:

    RDE71UW, RDE72UW, RDV71UW, RDV72UW.

See the footnote on p. 334 of the following doc:

    http://support.bell.ca/Documents/Use...n).pdf?ver=2.0

This is a mix of 2 different 3G bands. Very strange. I would imagine Bell will carry only the model with 1, 2, 5/6 bands (AT&T). In the Europe, it seems, RIM is releasing the following models:

    RDE71UW, RDE72UW

BlackBerry - Legal - Declaration of Conformity

If this is right then "E" in the model number stands for Europe? But these 2 models both have 1, 2, 5/6 3G bands. I thought Europe use 900/1700/2100 bands.

VERY confusing, but at least, we have some informatioon about 9900's model numbers.

    Any thought?

mine is RDY71UW, I wish BB could have streamlined the frequency bands just like Nokia, all new Nokia s are penta-band, ease for a real global roaming.

How do I get my Model #? Or do I have to take a look at the back of the phone, behind the battery?

I wonder of the at&t ones have a hardware fix do to all the bricked 9900? Supposively that's why at&t held out for releasing this until rim fixed something

The model number is on the label behind the battery.

In fact it might be a little more complicated, because there are a series of FCC approval references for this model, probably relating to pcb changes. Whether all saw commercial release is open to doubt until we find samples in the wild but the test reports make interesting reading.

I suspect the 71 and 72 variants are a cosmetic change which doesn't impact RF components and regulatory approvals. Maybe keyboard layout, camera/non-camera, or possibly even white/black body. It appears they are all approved as the generic ...70xx model.

This is the model number ( RDE70UW ) from the 3 phones I already have ( you can view a pic here http://forums.crackberry.com/attachm...chmentid=97139 )

My carrier is Telcel from Mexico.

The richest man in the world is the owner of Telcel, that is his main business, imagine how much money he gets from there to be the richest man in the world.

RDV71UW also comes in white and works fine no battery lose!

It was made in Hungary 23rd Oct 2011 so it is a late build check your build date on the box and you will find that software problems are more prone prior this date for sure, I think,
