I suggest it all depends on:
1) build quality (batch)
2) way of usage
3) climate etc. differentiations

I laminate my 9900 full body cover except LCD area.
have 6 months of usage, my 9900 still looks clean:D
How the efff did you get that done? As far as I can see in the pics, it's a perfect job. Well done!
wow and it's shinyyyyyyy :D
effort made it only takes about 30 minutes, and all the body is covered, including keypad and trackpad.
no increase in temperature of the device, all in normal conditions.
WOW. That looks really aswsome. Where did u get the laminate? Maybe u could post some instruction? Thanks. Your phone looks dope:)
Mine are still like new and I have been tapping away on it for 9 months lol.
Keep your nails trimmed? ;)
I had the same problem with my 9930 and just did what you suggested here, it looks great. Thanks for the post!
I had the same problem and I tried your suggestion, it looks great. Thanks for the post!!! :)
I Have an Bold 9900 bought on September made on Hungary and on the third month the keyboard stripes was peeling off,
Bought a new one from CNN.cn and now is ok
My 9650 did this within a few months and I live where there is low humidity, although my phone is not outdoors that much anyway and always in a case when it is outdoors. I used a black sharpie to make it all black and loved the way it looked so much that I painted it black to make it look even better. My 9930 has held the silver color much better and I have not changed it yet, but will eventually.
hey man I just had my Bold 9900 with that lame peel off. I'm thinking to peel all of the chrome and get it black like as u did.
but I still need some suggestions.. My Chrome starts to peel off from top line
No doubt! :D
I always wonder how this happens. My 9900 still looks brand new apart from the mildly worn KB. It holds up a lot better than my torch did. The keys are smooth on that phone now.
never had this problem ever.. almost a year now with my 9900..
i wonder what causes this to occur.

Ok dude....why you don't just replace the keyboard?Buy it and do it. I am actually using one right now, because my old keyboard was like yours. Works pretty good for now.

Where can we get OEM parts? As far as I'm concerned, better scratched and OEM than some cheap copy.
9900 & Tapatalk
You can only get OEM parts from another phone. Everything else will be aftermarket.
Phil, your saying "You can't get OEM parts" right? That was point I was trying to make.

i am now getting the BLACK paint off the keyboard scraping off ... and I don't have nails ... :p
I've had this issue also , i think its a build quality issue , but the keys work perfectly , and I dont really pay much attention to the sliver coming off
I think its an "I need to cut my fingernails", "I need to wash my hands", and "I have sweaty palms" issue.
