    Default Bold 9900/9930 Camera

Just wanted to comment on the camera for the 9900/9930. To me it is very similar to the Cannon EOS Rebel. As long as you set it to the proper "scene mode" it does, by and large, very well. There are so many options in the mode choice: Auto, face detection, portrait, sports, landscape, party, close-up, snow, beach, night, text (for taking pictures of documents).

When I have had a bad picture the camera has usually been set to an inappropriate setting. Otherwise the photos have come out very good.

I don't know if its imilar to Cannon's pictures, but one thing I'd agree with is that changing settings does effect the pictures! Since I had my bold 9900 I was thinking what an out-dated Camera this phone have n I actually stopped using the camera but yesterday for some reason I took a few pictures randomly colorful and changed setting and wow I was amazed when I saw them on PC! And of course its not an auto focus camera but over all if its not good its not BAD either
    Thanks for sharing!

I think the Bold 9900/9930 camera is a little underrated. It's not the quality of most digital cameras but it serves it's purpose. I can't speak for every Bold owner but I didn't buy my 9930 for the camera but it's pretty decent add on.

IMO, it is an excellent camera. The only real shortcoming is in the close shots for macro and text, but like the OP said, the settings can help and the processing can be improved through software if they go that route. For action shots, it can't be beat. You'll miss many shots while the A/F is trying to do its thing.

Check out this thread for some great real-world examples.

Did you buy your 99xx as a camera or as a Smartphone device? I have no problem taking quality pics on my 9930 PHONE and I'm very happy to have such a good camera as an extra feature. If I'm going to an event to take 1,000 pics, guess what? I bring my camera!!!!!

Sent from my BlackBerry 9930 using my keyboard typing skills.
