Yes, thanks. I'll get title changed. I feel bad for the 9900 bricked folks.
I hope it is fixed very soon.

Me too. If my carrier has it at some point I was thinking about it. Would be the 9930 though.

I haven't seen any AT&T 9900 brick reports yet. I hope they're ok.

Thanks Chrisy. As someone who just had their 9930 brick on them, this has been helpful.

9930!? I thought it was the 9900s mostly. Bummer. Did you get it back up and running?

hey all... so we're not alone. the 9860/9850 torches seem to be affected too.,. I posted this in the root cause thread.

You've been told before why there are more reported 9900 bricked cases... because there are far more 9900's on the global market than there are 9930's.
Other than the radios they are identical devices, so it's just as likely to happen to a 9930. It's just that there are far fewer of them out there.

This is definitely discouraging. Even Kevin M's has bricked twice. Really makes me kind of mad, there is no excuse for this happening to RIM's top of the line device.

I went and played with it today. Amazing keyboard! That's why I am going to wait until this bricking issue gets solved for whatever is causing it, the price to lower and all apps to be compatible on 0S 7. Oh and I didn't see the Torch 9860 at all.
I hope this gets solved and I'm sorry for those who are having problems.
P.S....the title still isn't fixed.

But, it's a "good" phone...

I feel bad for those that have experienced this issue and it really is maddening that RIM has such deplorable quality standards. I mean really, they've had trackpad implementation for the last 2-3 years and they still send out units with them twisted counterclockwise and misaligned. Truly an embarrassment by any measure for a $600 device.
However, looking at the bricking problem from the 30,000 foot view, if the problem was pervasive and systemic then I think there would be more of a groundswell of criticism. Granted there are a lot of threads listed by the OP but I don't think it is at the level of the stuttering 9780s as an example but it will be interesting if a lot more of these issues start cropping up now that AT&T is shipping tons of them.Last edited by mhw100; 11-09-2011 at 12:38 AM.

I do not recall any recent berry with these many reports of auto-bricking. I too am holding off a free "upgrade" for I travel frequently and cannot risk a dead phone. Maybe the 9700 was RIM's high water mark. Anyway all are hibernating in Canada now.

Sorry: for those who have bricked phones.
Scared: for those who haven't bricked (yet?)
Sad: for RIM
Hopefully there will be an easy solution to all this.
Good luck people. - 11-09-2011, 07:56 AM #22
I upgraded from the BB9700 to the BB9900 yesterday with AT&T. Successful transition and no problems thus far, but I'm following the bricked threads closely.
Will report back here if I have any similar problems.

My ATT Bold 9900 is completely bricked today after just 2 days. Completely shocked. Had it on medium battery in the middle of the night, when I woke up to get some water around 6am I noticed it died. Went to the other room, put it on the charger and went to bed not thinking twice. When I got up, I noticed it was still completely dead and if I pressed any buttons I would get the red light. Went to my computer trying to plug it in that way and it's doing the same thing. I get the blackberry cannot communicate with the device error every 10 seconds.

Nice work Chrisy!, I vote for a sticky with continued consolidation and new thread locking, so we can keep track of the bricking issue! I have been delaying purchase while trying out the SGS2 and waiting to see what happens with this!
