Everybody has an iPhone (or an iPod that looks like an iPhone), from teens to grandpas, so I dont really see it as a status symbol.
Even though the iPhone is popular right now, Blackberry is still gives off the professional, business vibe (depending on the age of the user of course). Especially since everyone has an iPhone. Its like "oh, (s)he must be using that Blackberry for work" - 06-23-2012, 08:01 AM

Galaxys are for gamers, i-phones are for shui-shui types, BlackBerrys are just real and cool. 'Nuff said.

I don't know about status symbol but I am like OP. I like and feel good with my BB 9930. I surely am not part of the herd mentality and I like my gadgets. BB 9930 bridged to my 64GB PB is just fine for me.
BTW I notice so many other non BB users in these forums. They say it's because they made so many friends here when they did have BB's. My question is why can't they find those acquaintances in iphone or Android forums? Perhaps they too tire of the herd mentality. Or maybe it's because those folks are too busy playing games to take the time to develop any long lasting relationship.
