Are the Facebook and Twitter Apps good?

I'm considering getting a 9930 for the amazing keyboard.

Twitter app is good, Facebook is ok. As much as I love my 9930, I wouldn't buy one now with the Q10 finally out. By all accounts the keyboard is just as good and you get BB10!

Yes- this is the dilemma in my head. I don't want to extend the contract. So it's either 250 for the 9930 or 600 for the Q10. But you make a very valid point.

9930 or Q10? It depends on how the device is used. The Q10 is new and has an OS maturity cycle to work its' self through. The 9930 is a pinnacle legacy OS and hardware device. I've used the Z10 for about 4 weeks and the Q10 for about 2 weeks, and they are both superb devices. For my use the Q10 and Z10 do not significantly change my usage experience, not for $600. My 9930 handles calls, email, instant messaging, and notes very well. For internet browsing I use a 7 inch tablet. My 9930 apps I use mostly are Evernote and IMO.

BeWeather is great albeit a little pricey. I was lucky enough to pick it up when it was free after the outage. It is still a very fun weather app. The icon sets make it so customizable. BeBuzz is also great. I actually didn't know about it until I saw someone else mention it on here.

With that said I echo what the other posters have said. I love my 9900 and am very happy with it. Despite all of the knocks BBOS gets OS7 is fairly stable and it can perform most of the necessary smartphone functions well. It has aged well IMO. But at the end of the day BB10 is the future. So you will probably get more bang for your buck in the long run by spending a bit more now with better gains in the future.

I would not buy a Q10 thinking you will have a 9930 with BB10. What makes the 9930/9900 the great device that it is, is the OS7. BB10 is a convoluted mess right now and I would wait until things get straightened out and it matures into what it should be. The 9930 and OS7 is just fine for Twitter and Facebook and is a bargain with all this BB10/Q10 hype happening. I'd buy a 9930 and wait a while before spending 600 on a relatively unproven device and OS.

The quote above is on the mark IMO. The 9930 is a top notch performing device, and at this time is not matched for price and value, plus replacement parts are reasonably priced. At 2+ years old the OS 7 software is well tuned. The z10 and q10 are exceptional devices that are just now coming "online". I've owned both devices and there are certain features each have that are impressive. But I've returned both devices, because for me, at this time, they do not out perform the 9930 for the solid reasons I choose a Blackberry. My experience with the 9930 has been challenged numerous times by trying out top tiered Android devices and the BB10 devices. The alarm, email, calendar, IM, and phone performance are really good on the 9930. For mobile internet I use a 7 inch tablet.
