I've had my 9900 for almost a year with fairly no problems out of it. As of late, my battery has been going from a full charge down to "too low for radio use" within a matter of moments. After some searches and plenty of frustration, I'm assuming that BBM7 is the culprit. Did a security wipe yesterday of just the applications and found myself having the problem after that.

I uninstalled BBM for about an hour or so and didn't seem to have any issues, but I wish I could figure out WHY it's acting up now.

Looking at some of the numbers from the Device Analyzer, I'm wondering what you guys have to say about it.

You might just need a new battery. I use OS 7 and it has the best battery life of all!

Yea I'm thinking it's the battery too. I using the latest OS and no battery issues. I have many other issues but battery isn't one of them.

The op is talking about bbm7. Not os7.

Thanks for the input. I'm now thinking it's an battery issue too since I uninstalled the BBM again for a longer period of time and had the same thing happen once more.

For anyone who's curious, I'm using the official AT&T 7.1.0.694 OS build from a few months back.

there are several posts regarding this very same issue. I've been having exactly the same issue since the update to bbm7 so naturally, i thought BBM7 to be the culprit, and other posters were blaming BBM7 too. I installed a new battery last night and charged it right after. It has been 14 hours since and my new battery is holding up...i still have 55% of battery left. My old battery is a year and half old, so it just needs replacement. Nothing wrong with the phone or the OS.

Good to hear it all worked out Perhaps a Mod could mark this as solved.

    Sorry to hijack.

After a full charge over night, my phone will be normal for about 4 hours until it hits 70-60% then it will instantly drop to 5%.

Is this because my battery is knackered?

I bought the phone december 2011 so I've had it 12-13 months?

Mine is doing the same thing, its like the OS doesn't detect the battery level properly and then it reboots and then my battery is dead. Same problem with and without "Battery Saving Mode".

Only thing that is different is I'm back to the old BB charger and USB cord that came with the phone.

Anyone else get the random reboots?

Your battery is toast. It doesn't hold a charge. A year or so is normal for batteries these days.

I tried di electric grease on my phone battery connections and the battery. I now dont have intermittent charging problems as well as my phone now seems to use less power. It also charges fast like before. Wont fix it everytime but once in a while my battery wouldnt charge.

bbm7 hasnt been a batery drain for me running the att 7.1 rather it has been more of a memory drain for me.

Honestly the same thing happened to my bb last week, I took it to rogers and they swapped the phone. They said it was the battery, however make sure your using a proper charger. I have had more luck with my aftermarket chinesey charger. It gives the device a fuller charge I find compared to the bb charger. I would test somebody elses battery in your phone and see if it makes a difference. Otherwise take it in for a warranty swap

in my years i have never seen a knockoff charger work better than an oem one. its not the charger that dictates when a battery is full it is the battery and device.
