When I send a message on BBM the checkmark appears but no D or R.
I restarted, did a battery pull, but nothing helps. Anybody?

How many messages are you talking about? At the risk of going right to the simplest explanation, is it possible your recipient has his or her phone off, or is out of service coverage?

Yes I read the cause of this should be a very simple one (i.e. phone off), but is this always the case?

i usually register the device again under host routing table when this happens and it fixes it. That is just me.

But i WILL say that there seems to be some sort of outage ever since yesterday afternoon! Not sure if it is RIM or Tmobile, but my BIS service is going in and out.

Is it possible the recipient is only a text messaging contact? The D and R will never show up if that is the case.

D and R will not show up unless the message has been delivered and/or read.

Usually it is because the recipient hasn't received or checked. Not much you can do. If it is happening to all your contacts then you may want to check your BIS connection with the network.

I send a few messages that only show a check mark...usually for 5-10 minutes after sending. Only with a few contacts.
