I have the newest version of the BBDM (7.1.0.33) and i'm trying to upgrade my OS 7.1 from .746 to .794. I'm having issues with getting BBM7 to work on .746 and I am trying to see if
.794 might solve the problem.

I have downloaded the .794 software and BBDM is showing that an update is available: 7.1 Bundle 2218, but when I try to upgrade to it or even downgrade, when it gets to the install stage after 'backup' (but before the 'reboot' stage), it says 'connecting to boot ROM' and then I get an error message that says: An Unspecified error occurred......:

Application Loader was unable to connect with your device. Restart the loading process, reconnect your device and try again.

Unspecified error encountered [A:0x00000001]

Does anyone know what I could do? link to a differe BBDM version to try this or another way to upgrade my OS??

But even when trying to upgrade via the AppLoader method I still get the error:

Unspecified error encountered [A:0x00000001] when trying to connect to boot ROM

uninstall the desktop manager and any os install on your pc.. restart pc and reinstall desktop manager and try again.. also clean your registry use ccleaner

Tried this, and still nothing. I think it's my 9900 to be honest because this also happened when I downloaded BBDM 5.0, exact same error message, and also when trying to upgrade on the blackberry.com website as well..same error message.

Anyways, last night after deleting the BBM7 that was hanging on 'Restore' I googled a BBM 6.0 version and downloaded it via the BBDM 5.0 and then upgraded to BBM7 today and it works now while on OS 7.1.0.746. I'm guessing that it probably would've worked if I used BBDM 7.1 as well..just needed to downgrade to a BBM 6 version.

I'm not going to bother trying to upgrade to OS 7.1.0.964 anymore, with my luck if I do end up upgrading to .946 my BBM7 will get all messed up again! I'll just wait for BB10 L series!!!

I wouldn't tell this guy to use a registry cleaner. CCleaner may be a good program for things like temp files and general clutter, but stay away from "registry cleaners" and similarly named software. Those programs do more harm than good. Even under these circumstances there isn't any need for them.
