So Im about to buy a At&t 9900 phone and was wondering if
a- I can load any carrier OS in it?
b- Are there any differences hardwarewise between oem/unbranded devices and carrier ones?
c- I ve heard that ATT mobiles dont have the option of connecting to 3G only ( 2g and 2g&3g options only), if i changed the os would that option be available?

    TY!!!

    A: Yep.

B: Some carriers stamp their name on the butterfly below the keyboard which looks ghastly.

    C: Not sure.

You can buy blank replacements though.

Another question is when will ATT allow an official 7.1 update to the 9900? I have read things on here that the 7.1 update slightly improved the battery life to the phone on other carriers that actually updated it or those that went with leaked unofficial 7.1 OS updates.

ATT needs to get on the ball and come out with 7.1!!!

    1) Yes you can, just remember to delete the vendor files
    2) No difference whatsoever in the hardware
    3) It's the 2G only option that AT&T have removed not 3G, and they've removed it from ALL current and future OS builds so changing your OS won't get it back

I don't wait for AT&T for the updates. They aren't always up to date with them, no matter the device brand. You should update the OS to 7.1 yourself, assuming you know how to.
