I am using many "Word Substitution" entries to fasten typing of Emails on my 9900. When I upgrade my device to a newer verion of the OS, all these custom entries get lost. Has anyone experienced the same problem and/or know how to solve this?

It seems as if your Custom Word DB may have been corrupted. Try restoring from an older back-up.

No, I don't think that this is possible. I've done this three times with the same result. Restoring from an older backup does also not work. I use line breaks in some substitutions. Could these be causing the problem?

This is a well known bug which effected many users.
All my word substitution entry backups have always failed.
I use a small app to backup and restore word substitution entries. All word substitution entries are backed up separately to the memory card and restored when needed.

Bbzak, what app are you using? This would help tremendously...

Found the app! It's called "AutoTextBackup" and works like a charm.

+1 on AutoText Backup. It's the only thing that has EVER worked to back up word substitution.
    Find it here: http://www.tsungsoft.com/AutoTextBackup.php

Been an issue forever, but not from a BES restore. Get the app and call it a day.

I've read most of the forum entries re: word substitutions that do not get backed up and disappear with new software loads. Just happened to me. I religiously back up my 9930 to the desktop manager and have found 375 of my 400+ entries back in a January back up. Any help on how I can get them on my 9930 running 7.1? They are not available to me to simply check the box in selective restore.

I don't think I explained my problem very well. I have a backup of my BB 9930 that has most of my word substitutions. But it is "grayed out" when I try to restore. Can anyone tell me a way to get these back? Thanks!
