Default Alarm clock on my 9900 never works

    Hey,

I've checked to see if anyone has posted about this before and I haven't found anything. The problem is that I've got a new 9900 whose alarm clock is unreliable at best and non-functional at worst. I have had the phone for about two weeks, and I'd estimate the alarm has worked about half the time. The problem is most noticeable when I set my alarm (it's set to AM as I want, and to "ON" rather than "Weekdays" or "OFF") and then turn off my phone. The phone prompts me to either turn off the phone or do a full power off. I always choose to turn it off rather than do a full power off. The phone even conveniently tells me correctly when the phone is scheduled to turn back on.

The problem is, the phone DOES turn back on at the scheduled alarm time, but the alarm doesn't go off. Some days I have woken up a while after the alarm is meant to have started and I see the "Snooze" or "dismiss" buttons, though the alarm has not been audible at all (and yes, the volume is high and I would hear it), but most of the time the phone has just turned back on and nothing has happened save for me receiving emails or messages. I would rather not leave my phone on all night if there is some kind of fix for this.

I'd appreciate any help if anybody else has experienced this. Thanks!

Set your device to tirn on 5 minutes before the alarm goes off. You device can not turn on and fire off the alarm at the same time. It's been like that since I bought my device. Full power off is even worse.

    Just setup automatic on/off.

Or turn off all radio and WiFi connections and holster the device until the alarm goes off and then restore connections.

    Cheers,

Thanks for the tips. My Bold 9780 never had a problem turning on and setting off the alarm at the same time, and the 9900 has done it occasionally also. Do you find it just never happens specifically with your 9900?

Why turn it off? Charge it overnight and mute the notifications with a profile if you need to.

I prefer to turn it off.

Anybody else have any ideas? I left my phone on all last night and the alarm still didn't go off, though it was set entirely correctly. This is driving me nuts.

What ringtone are you using? Is it somehow muted in the profile. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't hear my BBM notification even though I had one selected. I then noticed it was only active in the holster, once I changed that setting,it's all good. Just my experience.

I'm using one imported off my last bb, maybe that's somehow the problem. I'll try it with a new one, thanks for the tip!

Oh but also, it doesn't go off at all, not that it's just silent. When I look at my phone in the morning it doesn't tell me to either dismiss or snooze the alarm, it gives me nothing at all.

No, I haven't reloaded the OS but the last time I connected my bb to the desktop software it told me my software was up to date (this is within the last week). This is so confusing.

What's your OS version? It sounds like a bug in your OS.

if you are using a custom ringtone that lives on your media card, it could cause an issue. I had a problem where my ringtone/wallpaper reset everytime i restarted my phone!!...it might be the case that your phone can't find the alarm ringtone and doesn't go off...just a hunch....

test it with a stock ringtone to make sure it isnt a ringtone issue

I just tested my Alarm. I set an alarm (house of rising sun mp3 snippet which I have placed in INTERNAL MEMORY). Then turned off my 9930. It woke up and is playing the mp3 snippet.

Again, this is the 9930 on Verizon's official OS.

I am having the same issue with the alarm not working, but the snooze and dismiss box comes up. I have tried reloading the OS and it worked for 4 days. Now my alarm isn't working again. Anyone figure anything out about this problem?

I have never had my alarm fail me. I connect my charger then switch to bedside mode. The only time I ever turn my phone off is when I'm flying.
