    On your homescreen, touch the bottom bar and drag it up to one bar. As for the alarm, I don't set it to view on calendar and so I can't help you there.

    as lycafe prompted, OS7 seems to remember the position of the app slider since the last time you maximized it, and will next time minimize it to that remembered level.
