9930 as a Hotspot?
Has anyone come up with a way to use the 9930 as a hotspot? I have an Ipad available to me if I can get a connection through my 9930 while on the road.

Can't use it as a hotspot yet, the word is that functionality is coming within a month or two. If your iPad is jailbroken I'd suggest that you give iBluever a shot, I use that on my iPad to tether to my 9900 and previously the 9700. Great little utility for a few bucks, you can get it through Cydia.

Not sure there will be any free option when it does come for awhile yet. Hopefully Tether or someone else will make it so.

You can use WiFi Hotspot on a 9930 on Verizon if you have OS 7.1 loaded.
It is not free, however. You need to have a tethering/mobile broadband plan. - 12-31-2011, 04:22 PM #6

I'm still afraid to update to 7.1
I have had so many bad experiences with RIM updates and I don't want to go through a day of screaming at the Support people at Verizon to help me get it back up and working. I can't afford the downtime if it goes bad...and the odds are in favor of it going bad in one way or another.
