So there has been a lot of debate of how good the non AF EDoF 9900 camera is vs the 9780 AF camrea.

So I thought of doing a side by side photo shoot out to clear everyone's doubt, and to give a clear idea of how the pictures are both far away and close up pics.

    You be the judge.

Mind you, I am not flaming the 9900, I actually have it and love it, and I rarely take pics so I could care less about the camera, but I am sure many would.

The images were not altered except resized to 800x600 for better viewing on the forums.

Thanks for taking the time to show us a comparison of the two.

It's quite obvious that the 9900 has better quality from far range but no so much close up.

    Bold 9780
    • Close up photos = win
    • Far range = not so great

But nice furniture. It looks baller status.

I'd say that is a pretty huge gap in picture detail, particularly in pictures of print.

There's always some type of hang up... smh

Also, I hope that's not your furniture! lmao

Thanks for the pics. I'm liking the 9780 camera for most of them. The print photos really show how well they read with the 9780.

Think you'd be having more fun in a mustang in Dubai. Just sayin

Thanks for the pictures. Just further proof of the 9900's camera being subpar. Lack of detail on far away shots and the close ups are pretty much useless.

    Nice comparison.

Can I ask: Are you an American living in Dubai or native to the land? I think it's an amazing place...Are there many American cars on the streets? Seems like it would be a fish out of water, but I really don't know.

    Thanks

I am an American (from Arlington, TX) living in Dubai. The most cars you see on the road here are Mustangs, Chargers, Corvettes, Holden Monaro / Pontiac GTO (They named it "Lumina" here), Camaro SS, BMWs, Mercedes, Range Rovers, Nissan 350Zs, Golf GTI, Honda Accord, Mazda 6, Ford Focus, Ford Explorer, Jaguars, and MANY Nissan Patrols, Toyota Land Cruisers (SUV) cars

Those are the cars I can think of really quick on a Dubai Road.

Cool. Dubai seems about as westernized as you can get being a half a world away. Pretty amazing what that country has become. Do you minf if I ask your line of work? Basically, how does a guy from TX end up there?

How about motorcycles-street and dirt-are those popular there as well? Sorry to digress everyone. I'm fascinated.

Wow the 9900 camera really shows a visible difference in the photos even without the autofocus! Pictures seem more vivid from the 9900. I do see the same difference in my 9930 !

    Go RIM!
