Not everyone will make the transition to BB10 right away, so it's probably safe to assume they (RIM) will be manufacturing OS 7.1 handsets for awhile at least.
I was told by a support representative from the UK carrier 'O2' that the 9900 ceased production around July 2013 and what's left in the channel is all there is, once it's gone it's gone. Is anyone here able to confirm this ?.
Thanks.

Update: I just had a look at the UK websites for O2 and Vodafone and neither of them have any of the OS 7.1 Bold's on them anymore (only EE does), so maybe all OS 7.1 Bold's have ceased production ?.
This site has always been a platform for asking questions and seeking solutions for anything pertaining to BlackBerry user problems and questions without the fear of being jumped on for simply asking. The OP's question was a logical one given the state of current events and the rise of BlackBerry 10. Please, a little respect
Well, the 9790 is now officially End of Life with some carriers so it must be a pretty safe bet to say that the 9900 is as well, once stock is gone it's gone.
Personally I'm annoyed by this as if you're a business using BES 5 and don't want to move to BES 10 yet all you can easily purchase in the UK from carriers are now Curves with their inferior keyboards and build quality ! (the main carrier I use is O2 and all they have in the way of Bold's is refurbished 9900's that they're getting a small stock of).
I am in the US (Northern NJ) and I am getting a 9930 from Verizon. I hope they are still in production -- for replacement, warranty, etc. purposes. While it might not be official or formal, I've found that when a device is no longer being produced, accessories, parts, support, etc. starts to become harder to come by. Maybe it's just me being a tech *****, LOL.
Still selling strong in the uae, in fact our company just switched carriers and upgraded everybody's old BlackBerry to 9900. They came with 7.1 and I installed the latest one before I logged into the enterprise server . Kinda bummed that they didn't go with bb10, but I was told there where too many problems and they are still waiting and might start using it later.
Even if they're going out of production you will still be able to buy brand new ones for a long time. Last year I bought a brand new Nintendo DS Light from Hong Kong, sealed and everything for like $60 and that's been out of production for years. There will be warehouses all over the world w/ sealed 9900's that you can buy for a while. I just got a 9930 in 9/10 used condition for $120 last week, don't worry about availability.

I would agree. No problem at all. For me, and I am the exception, I would be looking to purchase/upgrade/etc. directly from the carrier. So, if they are out of stock, then I am out of my element. LOL.
I believe all the Bolds as well as the PlayBook are no longer being manufactured. Probably also applies to the Torch and most Curve models too, except perhaps the 9320. Pretty sad, esp about the Bolds and the PlayBook.
I've looked for a 9900 in the UK and they seem to be getting harder to find. Places like Amazon and eBay have them but don't seem to be about, unlocked, from phone outlets .
I know this might be odd statement but since the 9900 has been such a popular device, wouldn't it be wise to keep your existing customer base happy and give them what they want and keep producing the 9900.
