Hello, I'm David's friend with the problem switching Sims between Passport and Bold. Whenever I put the Sim in the Bold I don't have any data connection until I call AT&T and have them "activate" the IMEI. When I switch back to the Passport........same thing. Evidently you can't just swap like you can between IOS, Android, and BBOS10

    Posted via CB10
Hi @acroyle I too am on ATT for my Blackberrys and when I took in my unlocked Passport SE for the sim, I asked about swapping sim with my 9900 and they told me I would have to call so they could key the swap into the system.
Dang, I was miffed but whatever... as much as I love the 9900, the PP SE is proving itself a total workhorse on the same less than 2 bars of signal - rural near mountains - , but I love my 9900... Sigh

My fault for not checking all the details before I bought it.
On the other hand, your boys won the Stanley Cup -- so how bad can things be?

    Does everyone know about this.....

you can check the total useage of your phone, and this is useful if you want to buy a used one, etc.

Mine has 12 days of talk time......

Go to Options, Device, Status Information and type "BUYR"

the results should look something like this.....

(how much useage does everyone's have??

I know this option. It is funny for me when i put in option device language from english to polish(my native).

Anyway - mine says 55:15:22:43 so it means 55 days. Gotcha! mine is from 2012 year and works brilliant!

But I am not sure what about data usage - Exceeded 1048576K so in MB how much is it?

Mine says 2 days and 14 hours, it says the data exceeds 1 million K whatever that translates to, to MB or GB, i'm guessing thats 10GB used? I bought this phone pre-owned and i have barely used the calls on this phone for 20 minutes, so i'm guessing it's remembering all the data from before or the data from my back up from the original 9900 i had which would make more sense because i had it for close to three years before i upgraded to the Q10.

Mine's exceeded the limit for data usage, but says that it only has 5h 20m of talk time. If that's correct, I have put all the voice usage on the phone. I wonder if it resets when you install a new OS? Or maybe it resets when you unlock it?

I'm betting that it carries over and is cumulative. Kind of like the odometer in a car. Even if you have 120,000 miles and you change the engine, the body still has 120,000 miles on it. (my guess)

haha I don't mind the black bordered screen. New screens are cheap to buy but this 9900 was definately in an OtterBox or something because the screen is perfect condition-wise.

What looked odd I think was my white 9780 with the full gold housing on it, that white border screen looked pretty goofy imo and in that situation I think Black would have suited it better.

David and I were talking a little about this but does anyone know if the total useage numbers are measured by minute, or to the second. I'm assuming that because the gauge says seconds that it MIGHT be that specific?

If my device is from 2011 or even 2012 (I wish I had the box for the production date) then that likely isn't that much useage in the relative scheme of things. I think my iphone has 14 days total and it is from Feb. 2014 when I got it new.

Speaking of oversized handsets, remember you talked about that 5000 MAH battery you used to use or something, well I saw a guy with an iPhone playing Pokmon go and I thought he was actually holding three or four iPhones all together in a stack. What it was was one iPhone with a massive battery case that was so thick I couldn't believe it, immediately I thought of you ha ha.

I guess people have been complaining that the game is draining their battery very quickly so it makes sense to have a case like that with large capacity.

Sidenote: I'm going to be jumping back into the 9900 this week because I can't take much more of this keyboard. Voice to text is nice but it's just not the same. Also the fact I'm kind of waiting for that bottom plate in white to come for the bottom of the keyboard. I think the 99 will look pretty awesome with the white keyboard and a black screen, but it looked odd with a black bottom plate smiling back at me in massive contrast. Also I am hoping that my BBID will allow me to enter the password with the sim back in the 9900 because it sure wasn't letting me before and I am on attempt #5.

Also the fact that with this iPhone I have used more than half of my allowed data for this month and I have a full week left, the BlackBerry is a miser on data.
Yep, external packs and/or cases have their pros & cons. Best pro is ability to plug in mid call. Cons include figuring out what to do once the case battery drains. Pack spare cases? For endurance hours provided, internal batts provide unmatched energy density, afaik. Even my 5000mAh internal spare easily pockets nicely. I really like the added grasp proved by the monster battery ledge on back BUT can readily restore my 99's wonderfully comfortable OEM form factor anytime the added battery capacity isn't needed. That person with the iPhone is still stuck with an iPhone after removing the case...lol.

I've been using my 5000's on a project site where low signal drains EVERYthing. My embedded battery devices aren't really worth carrying around, out here. Even the 5000 only gets my 99 thru a 12hr day, out here. It's usually good for several days back in decent signal areas. Out here in Nowhere USA, my personal Classic will be down to power saving mode before lunch!

Of course that same Classic got into some kind of idiotic DropBox pin-sync and racked up 25Gb data before I noticed what was going on!! Ug!! It's turned off till I get time to sort that out. 99 is still the old gitterdone go-to.

    Speaking of monster batteries...

Agreed, droping my 9900 into it's charging cradle provides a great desk clock and calendar (the date is easily readable), in addition to ensuring that my Bold is well charged when I need to 'grab & go'
A great feature, which is sadly lacking from BB10 devices, my Q10 has to be plugged in via microUSB and doesn't default to that glorious digital clock display

I'm not really sure what I just read here buddy

You know.....when my iphone 5C was new I could get a lot longer than the 6 or 7 hours I am getting on it NOW with a brand new battery installed (albeit a Chinese non-apple brand battery"). I am wondering if it could be because the older device is forced to push data on the latest and bigger and more advanced ios and this could be why even the new battery just doesn't last as long as when it was on ios7 from the factory.

I think there can be so many factors at play that combine to drain a battery. Temperature, low signal area (as you mentioned) screen brightness, software, etc etc. .....

The absolute best thing about the pod charging set up to me is using it in conjunction with "Event Sounds" turned on. This makes it so much nicer when you are going to bed and placing it on the pod charger and hearing that little audible alert when it is seated straight on the pod and you KNOW it is charging. It is also nice because of the one handed operation to pod charge as opposed to the 2 handed operation plugging into the USB.

I also love knowing when the battery is FULLY charged and this is why "Event Sounds" is my favourite Blackberry feature contained in 0S7. I have tried MANY "Battery Full Alert" apps for my iphone and NONE of them actually do as they are supposed to!!!!!

Blackberry just got it right! Blackberry basically thought of everything when they made these devices!

This makes me want to break out my Pre3. It made a great "power connected" sound when you put it on the touchstone (a wireless charger).

lols. Granted, the 9900's isn't extreme loud by default and it doesn't wake you up if you are sleeping and the battery becomes full, but the amount of volume on it is just perfecto.
