I want to know if anyone else ever experienced this:

I was BBM'ing someone when a phone call came in, answered the call and when the person BBM'd me again it made the phone call drop.

does this have anything to do with the fact BBM was left open when the call came in?

I think I remember this happening with my older 9780.

my friend I was talking to in BBM later told me that he also had a 9900 and it "could not seem to handle data when there was an incoming call"

    thoughts?

ya I'm set to H+, 3G and 2G, but I always see it connected to H+ and I need that speed because I do everything on this thing. Should I try a different setting?

I never experienced a dropped call with this thing until today and Ive used it just over a month now

I'll set it to 3G and H+. that wont slow me down at all and I got a good strong cell tower where I am so it'll never degrade down to Edge anyway...

so I did a lot of reading on why the calls and sometimes the wifi cuts out and it has to do with "UMA." when I trouble shoot this on my 9900 it says "not available" or "not connected" (I did this yesterday) and it is something to do with wifi calling or when there is a bad signal, UMA somehow helps boost the signal but Rogers killed this some years ago. it was supposedly replaced by "Rogers One" and if you still want UMA, some service providers charge a small monthly fee and they can add it back. I found an older CB thread and they talked about this.

however I had NO dropped calls today and it is rare for me to have this. Another thing I should consider is wifi congestion because I live in a high rise building and I see about 15-20 other routers people have here and all with the same provider as part of a package deal we pay for. So THAT likely explains my wifi occasionally cutting out. My 9900 is set to channel 5 but someone commented that channel 1 is likely the best because the lower you go on the channels, the STRONGER the wifi connection and the idea is to let others switch to a higher channel when they experience too much congestion and then you will be the only one on channel 1

Anyway its still perfectly "liveable" and working great all things considered.

since setting the "preferred network for calls" to "Mobile Network" I have not had a dropped call in days.

the wifi however occasionally cuts out sometimes but not too often.

the cutting out wifi was really getting to me, so I called my service provider and they switched me from channel 5 to channel 1 and also he said he put me down from 40Mhz to 20Mhz because too many people in my building are on the higher frequency. I was clocking 8Mbps download speed before and now near 5 Mbps but I can live with it since no cutting out now.

the wifi speed became unbearable, with speedtest off the ipad/iphone I was clocking less than 1 mbps so I phoned My provider and it turns out that my "auto channel select" for wifi bumped off, so changing this put me back to 5-7 mbps and also had them get me off the 20 mhz range and back to 40 mhz on channel 1, and now it seems groovy. Solid performance and no cutting out. It may not be related but also not dropping any calls now, so far
