Is this 9900 beyond help
I have a relatively new 9900 that will not boot up. The load screen gets to about two thirds through then just stops. I've removed the SIM and microSD card and tried again but the same thing happens.
I've removed the battery and left it overnight, still the same thing...
I tried to get to the stage where I can try to reload the OS from scratch but it does boot up enough to be recognised on any port.
I would just like to wipe it clean before sending it back to the carrier.
Any ideas? - 05-25-2012, 02:48 AM #2
I bought my blackberry bold 9900 last year October.
The same problem happened to me,but somehow I managed to reload the is and get the phone back again but a few weeks back it happened again and I was unable to reload the is due to the fact that the phone kept on rebooting and didn't give it much time to stay on.
I got mine replaced last week due to the fact that this is fault that RIM has acknowledged so if you did buy it from a service provider and it's still under warranty, take it back and get it replaced. - 05-25-2012, 04:59 AM

Weird, for some reason I was able to connect it and it showed the battery symbol (as if the battery was drained) and this allowed me to connect to it from my PC.
I was then able to use "loader.exe /nojvm" and installed the latest 7.1 OS.
I got over-excited because when it restarted after the OS installation it failed again at two thirds of the way along the process.

All I can say is back it up often while it is working.

I hate to say it but there is no quick fix for this and the longer you wait before taking it in to the shop the longer you will be without a phone. I went through an issue with mine and tried some of the so called fixes with negative results. Then I took it to carrier and 3 hours later I was back in business. You should do the same.
