    You need to delete two vendor.xml files. It will then install.

    I was using OS 7.1.0.402 and Gold battery did not work - thought was it battery/charger that was faulty

    I decided to roll back my phone to os 7.0 and the battery worked - great

    However what I want to do is to put 7.1 on my BB9900 I downloaded 7.1.0.284 and it would not install? Do you have to be outside of UK to install this?

    lol. nope... you can install it, but you have to make sure that you uninstall 7.1.0.402 first from your Pc. then install .284 on your pc and remove both vendor files. if blackberry desktop doesnt recognize the new OS on your Pc then just install it manually.

    On your pc go to control panel and then go to uninstall software. select Blackberry OS 7.1 and uninstall it. then install the 7.1.0.284 and delete the 2 vendor files. the second vendor file is located in;

    C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\Res earch In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

    Well now, just giving my experience, battery arrived today, after being shipped 2 days ago (Portugal), bought to an user on ebay.co.uk who also offered a car charger.

    Came with the decoder, what did I do:

    1. Inserted new battery in phone, gave the wrong battery icon;
    2. Old and new battery in decoder, led went on for 3 seconds then off;
    3. Inserted new battery in phone, did not work (thought it was because I am on .402);
    4. Tried again in the decoder, this time a little longer, maybe 15 seconds?;
    5. Inserted in phone, and voil! It is working as intended.

    Now to hope that battery life will improve! I bought the 2500mAh version of the gold battery (lol).

    EDIT: Just did a battery pull, and there was no need to reclone. So... people who are thinking of buying this and expect to have no problems with versions or having to clone everytime you reset the phone... Buy the 2500mAh version!!

    My Bold version: 7.1.0.402 (9900)

    Hi Kameleon047

    First day of using 0.284 lasted from 7am - 11pm and had 15% left so was happy

    That said next day different, phone was below 50% by 12pm and by 4pm less than 20% - phone was in desk so minimal usage

    Wondering now if Gold Battery was worth the effort - will keep testing

    As for 0.267 you refer too is this not a downgrade from 0.284?

    I also see you have asked if Gold battery works on most recent o/s that is leaked - interested in outcome on this question also?

    I trust you use the gold battery, how has it been for you m8?

    thanks for sharing! Yes .267 is a downgrade. I upgraded yesterday to .428 and still waiting for the GOLD to arrive I had one but it didn't work so now waiting for the new GOLD. The battery must work at .402 as reported by Fleite. Still waiting for somebody to tell us if the Gold works on .428

    So actually the battery life has not improved for you? Did you buy the Gold from Ecell?

    i have a suspicion that on new OS builds, RIM has put like an encrypted protection to the battery sensor so that ONLY the JM-1 OEM battery is able to unlock it, which is why you can't put any after market battery for your 9900..

    BUT, i do have a question here. can we put the JS-1 OEM battery to our bold? you know it's the OEM battery of the new curve 9220/9320 and it's 1450mAh. i haven't seen the unit yet but i suppose it's got an almost similar battery size to the JM-1 just a bit thicker (but i'm sure it can stick to the battery slot of the 9900)..

    I actually bought 2 batteries, one is a Gold 2430mAh and the other is a Gold 2450mAh.
    I tried the first one as soon as I got my 9900 and it worked, however once I upgraded to the latest OS from Vodafone it didn't work anymore. Weird thing is, I got it to work once after the update somehow but I haven't been able to replicate it since. Soon as it rebooted after an Appworld update, it never worked since.
    I haven't tried the 2450mAh one yet, my theory is that it will not work after you update the phone so I'm going to spend some time with the leaked OS and Vodafone's official OS and see which one works better before I attempt to clone the battery.
    I bought the first one from eBay vendor e_cell and they were kind enough to offer a refund for the battery not working.

    Yes I did charge Gold for 12 hours initally

    I put in on charge again last night for 12 hours and battery did charge fully up in under 1.5hrs but get it on for remaining 10.5hrs

    Well this morning turned phone on 7.30am, other than email coming through, have made no calls and as of now (@10.25am) phone has lost 40% of charge so I am heading for phone to down to 10% or less by 5pm today

    If this happen then I would say Gold battery is not making any difference at all

    Others have posted battery may get better over time - I hope so, will keep faith with it and perserve for a while longer

    Thanks for your feedback.. Hmm strange, because I even get more hours with my normal battery. Maybe it is because you just upgraded to .284 so the OS is still new for your phone.

    Well now, just updating on my previous post.
    I just upgraded to the latest firmware release, the .432. I upgraded it with the gold battery inside, and there was NO problem whatsoever. Phone is still configuring itself, mainly the e-mail accounts, and after that I will do a battery pull.

    So, just saying that the battery works with .432!

    EDIT: And I just tested it (battery pull), still works, still no re-cloning needed!

    The battery does fit with a slight push, however on boot up still shows X, must be model specific, shame really!

    Like others have said before,
    it takes time for the battery to break in. I share the same experience as others, the first days I couldent notice any difference from the OEM. But after 4 days i can see a slight difference.

    I try to close both Viber and Whatsapp when I dont use them, since they run in the background. + setting the Battery save mode on 100 helped some.

    As the manual also suggested is to charge the battery instead of to drain it completly, I try to charge as often as I can and as a bit longer then usual.

    Is there any reason to do battery pulls?

    Running 7.1.342 - No issues with cloning of the battery. I only done this once and the OEM works after reboot and pulls. And I dont see why I need to upgrade all the time anymore.
