Default 9900 Azerty to qwerty change?

    Hi guys,
I'm the proud owner of the 9900 Bold... I managed to change my old iPhone 4 for this and I'm happy with the change!
... but when I get home I realised that I have a AZERTY keyboard (I was to happy when I see it and forgot to check the keypad)
After hours and nights lost on ALL forums looking for input change from azerty to qwerty, I managed to do some changes:
I installed vietnamese input language and the layout changed from azerty to qwerty (only software, I don't care for the phisical layout) - seems like BB has an error with that (hope they never fixes that )

Now I have another (small) problem: can not use "alt+h", "alt+j" (smileys in general) because vietnamese input uses for another purpose.
tried with word substitution, but also can not insert ":, ;, ", '" characters there.

Does anyone knows for real how to change azerty to qwerty or some apps, keys, codes, etc. for inserting like a normal qwerty?
big thanks and I hope I helped someone else with this infos

    Hi there,

If you install OS 7.1.0.205 or 7.1.0.437 and delete german support in the install options, this will make the phone Qwerty US/UK

If you want you can also change the keyboard for $20 on ebay

    OMG
Just installed the latest OS from dominican Republic (not All languages)
lost ability to install vietnamese input... again: not all languages
but tried all available languages and... long live Croatians (Hrvatski)
with this language I have all qwerty capabilities on my azerty Bold 9900.
Maybe another azerty user who wants a qwerty input will see and use this info

Use BB Desktop and options, delete all but English and reboot. Or use app loader and only install English

I did that and still azerty... maybe azerty key mapping is stronger then qwertz
Anyway, now I have qwerty with croatian input. The only problem (I can live with that) is when I'm inserting passwords - it moves back to azerty and I can not switch to croatian

    Hi there.

Did you use 205 or 437 with English only, note that 569 with Croation does NOT switch to Qwerty!

I always understood that the keyboard type is burnt into the circuit board. Maybe not so for the new devices.

I am sure that I'm using .569 (just installed last night) from Dominican Republic. the only languages left in my phone is English (who use azerty input, like the phisical keyboard) and Hrvatski (who use qwerty input).

tips and tricks for qwertz don't work with azerty... tried all your advices but seems that croatian is the only thing for me
