9900 AWFUL Signal Issues, and now muting itself.
Hi guys... after being sent this Bold 9900 as a new replacement for an original faulty one, ive discovered it has serious signal issues. while having decent coverage in my house, I always have the worst coverage of anyone on any phone on any network when im out and about.
Whilst I've read of similar problems on this forum and others, my issue is a little different when travelling around.
I drove from Cambridge to Birmingham recently, and once the signal had dropped off once, it would not come back on until i had stopped and rebooted (and was outdoors). I tried enabling and disabling the mobile network, resets and reboots. But all I saw was SOS. After enabling mobile network, i saw 4 or 5 bars for a split second, then SOS again when a vode user sitting in the passenger seat was facebooking away!
this is the norm for me.. even after upgrading to 7.1.0 Bundle 1149, I get the same issues. Vodafone have been nothing short of awful in their "support", telling me my only option was to stick it in a jiffy and wait 14 working days.
The other issue it has is it seems to randomly mute the mic. So I answer the phone and the caller cant hear me... or i cant record a voice note. mute, unmute, its fine again.
This is driving me mad. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.? - 04-30-2012, 01:59 AM #2
My signal in the USA (the other Cambridge, the one with the real school) is very variable. I think it is owing to T-Mo's very poor signal quality. But the 9900 seems worse than my 9700 used to be.

My signal quality on Verizon is iffy but not the worst I've seen. Unfortunately my town does not have great Verizon signal coverage -- though I have not noticed SOS mode.
