If you had to buy a new 9790 or 9900, which would you get...and why?

    The 9900 , of course !
The look and feel alone , beats the 9790 !

    Good luck with your choice.

9900 is better manufactured, more hig end device but 9790 have a better battery life and camera plus more portable.

If you need a basic phone, only for texting, email or sms go for the 9720. Much better battery life and a 2,8"" screen. Less memory but
you can buy a MicroSD card, a bit slower than 9900 and 9720 but does very well the job. Camera is razonable goog and like I say before battery life is double than 9790 or 9900 but no NFC and lower processor and screen resolution.

I've owned both, and the 9900 is far better build quality. 9790 has auto focus but that's where the advantages end in my opinion. Also had the issue of the lock button cracked after awhile. Apparently it's not uncommon either. 9900 feels much better to type on. And for an old girl, it's still damn sexy!

Wow ! Something not working properly with your Bold !

I can easily get 1 1/2 days on slow days.
When things get more hectic I get a day of use.
( always carry a spare battery just in case )

Yeah I am not really sure why that was happening but I think the 9790 has a smaller processor so it gets better battery life. I have all the same apps/functionality, but my battery lasts way longer...it was exactly what I was looking for. It might also have something to do with the fact that my 9790 only gets 3G and therefore isn't always searching for 4G reception like my 9900 was.

Thats not normal. A wipe or a new OS reinstalations sure will solve the problem. If not.. A hardware issue.
But 9790 battery life is much much better. Also the slower 9720 can make the job for sure. Not as glamorous but
great battery life and balanced hardware. I have it before the 9900 and used to get more than 12 days in standby
or 4-5 days in moderate to light use.

For those who already use the 9900 berrylicio.us will help you a lot to get more battery usage, but dont expect miracles..

I am very curious how you got 12 days.
    What's the secret ?

    What's the secret ?
Network 2G mode always. Data off- roaming off
    No GPS
    No geolocation
    No Wifi
    No Bluetooh
Screen in black colour always (same resolution as display)
    Battery saving mode always ON
    Battery booster app from appworld
automatic time zone update to OFF
Uninstall every irrelevant app dont go to use , remove every languaje dont go to use as well.
    Voice dialing OFF
Display brightness to 40 always (less better). I discover autobrightness use more battery because have to measure
every time brigthness conditions, so fixed this to constant. Dim 10 seconds, only.

And very importan: Block the BB every time you dont use it pressing * Key
Auto start and stop from 9 AM to 11 PM
More or less is that. Sure a few more tips, but havent here the phone now.
    Using OS 7.1.0.1121 actually latest
Always in a normal network signal conditions (good to very good).

Remember to calibrate the battery every 3 months or so.
Used to full charge the battery from 10% to 100% Waiting 1 hour more after green led light on.

    Hope it serves.
