7.1 OS vs RAM
Hi everybody,
I recently installed a couple of apps of my bold 9900 (running 7.1.0.402) including one named battery pack. I'm perfectly satisfied with those apps, which are not always running on the background or refreshing at a pre-scheduled time (except twitter and facebook). One of the features of battery pack allow me to quickly check the amount of ram available for the device and mine is always fluctuating between 180~216 gb. Take note the only app running in my background are the 5 five pre-installed and doc2go (around 18/24 h). After a reboot, the ram starts at 216 gb and then slowly decrease no matter if I'm using the phone or let him in idle. I'm not a power user, so the ram is not a big concern for me, but I noticed the change of smoothness when I reach the 180 gb of memory. So this is the point of my thread (7.1 users) : what is the average amount of RAM do you have on your phone on medium/normal usage ? This information would be useful for me cause I'll upgrade/downgrade to the OS with the best RAM's management, regardless to the browser's speed, etc... Thank you ! - 07-31-2012, 08:51 AM #3
I currently run about 195MB free at boot (I shrank my OS, but I have a lot of apps installed), and start noticing performance issues when I get down to <90MB free. I actually forget to reboot my BB, it works so well. I usually start noticing some freezing, check my uptime, and realize it's been 4 or 5 days since I rebooted last.

Update to 7.1.0.569, I don't know about RAM management but it's quite stable.
