Can I use a SanDisk Mobile Ultra 64GB SDXC card with my 9930? If not, what is the maximum size I can use?

isn't there a modification that can be done to support 64? Also, if i got a 32, would i be able to use the sandisk mobile ultras or only the standard black ones?

No, the limitation is the sd controller in the phone itself.

You can use any microsd card, as long as it doesn't exceed 32gb. I have a 32gb Trancend class 10 card in mine.

Don't know the class of my 32gig. But it is a Sandisk "optimized for mobile" printed on it. Works great!

i actually just found an old sandisk 16gig in my drawer and transferred my stuff onto it.. so it's not going to be a problem for now

anyways, i think it's kinda stupid for RIM to have put a 32gig limit in the controller... why do you think they would have done this?

also, i have a 9700 for gsm when i travel internationally. what is the maximum sd card size on the 9700?

Most people don't need 64 GB card. Even with many songs and some compressed movies, you don't need much. Unless of course, some people have porn and dirty pictures on their phone. LOL

Most consumers and business customers will have more than enough storage with 8 GB built in plus the 32 GB on top of that. I think RIM did this to keep the manufacturing costs under control.

EDIT: to answer the OP, no you cannot have a 64 GB card because the physical hardware of the phone will not support it.

i don't watch porn... watching is no fun. besides, the screen is too small. but that's not the point... 16 gig was enough on my 8520, theres no reason for it to be insufficient now, especially with all that onboard memory that they included.

but how does it keep manufacturing costs under control? i don't really get it...

Where the heck you buy your cards from?..lol

Amazon.com: SanDisk 32GB MicroSDHC Card (SDSDQ-032G-A11M, US Retail Package): Computers & Accessories $37.84

Don't need anything more than a Class 4. Don't waste your money.

I can't really answer this question but based from my experiences, normally a phone manufacturer stated that their phone can work with the biggest size Memory cards at that time when the phone is launched.

Like for example my nokia e90 , the boz says it can accept Up to 8GB micro SD
Because when the nokia e90 was launced, the biggest card on the market is 8GB
But I've tried using 16GB and 32GB card with that phone and its all work fine.

    U get what I mean ?

Btw is the sandisk ultra 64GB already available ?
And how much its gonna be ?

I'm interested to get one as well if its not so expensive.
If it can't work with my 9900 then it can be used as super small thumb drive
