Does anyone know the advantages of unlocking the blackberry 9790 running OS7.0?? Im doing some traveling to southern asia this summer and i would like to use my 9790 in various countries and I wasn't sure if unlocking would benefit me...

There are only 2 advantages to unlocking ANY phone...
1) You can use it on other networks
2) Slightly higher resale value

You don't. You get a reputable unlocking company, give them privately your IMEI and pin, and they'll unlock it for you.
