Its been just 2 months since the purchase and the touch screen has started acting up. It stops responding to touch and the phone has to be shut, battery taken out, phone restarted and then the touch screen starts responding. This happens atleast once a day and I'm getting fed up of this.

It could be hardware defect or you could always try to upgrade you OS first to the latest version. If the problem still exists, then you may need to have it looked at.
