for a little more incite...
Bold 9790 - 3G/3.5G (7.2 MB/s)
Bold 9900 - 4G/H+ (*14.4 MB/s - *not true 4G because true 4G is like 40+ MB/s or something)
I've done side by side comparison of my Bold 9790 with my cousin's 9900 with the Fancy Speed Test Application and the results are almost identical. Really doesn't make much difference probably depending on how strong your signal is. - 04-27-2012, 01:33 PM #7
That was always my understanding, but you proved it

3G/4G never bothered me at all. if and when the LTE truly becomes ubiquitous and true LTE handsets become available at no sacrifice of other factors (including the price), I might then begin to consider device upgrade.
Until then, I am happy with the 9790 and never missed the 9900 that I once owned. - 04-27-2012, 04:06 PM #8
Yup, is true. I use the 9790 with T-mobile and then I switched to O2, in neither of those shows H+, only 3G.

My 9900 shows 3G. It's no biggie really, just if you want to feel better.

Apart from a handful of North American carrier 9900's (marketing gimmick), the rest of them ALL show 3G... but that's not the point here
The 9900 is an HSPA+ device, and if your network supports those speeds, you'll get them.
The 9790 on the other hand is only an HSPA device, so ALL of them will only show 3G.• That's Phill… with 2 L's ☺ - 04-28-2012, 12:18 PM #117200>8800>9000>8520>9000>9800>9900. If something's broken, a battery pull can usually fix it...
