New Battery and State of Health

Hello,

I just bought a new battery yesterday. I am a fan of screwing around with my phone so I was checking out the engineering screens and stumbled across the fact that the battery state of health is only 81%, the same as my old battery...

I was hoping someone could tell me if the State of Health is true and accurate to what it means and if I should seek an exchange. The battery, in my opinion, is draining a little too fast for a brand new battery. Is there a way to measure the mAh or voltage that would tell me if the battery is a dud? I bought it off eBay from a person claiming they are all legitimate. The battery looks legitimate... It was made in Japan though and the one that came with my phone was made in Korea so I am not sure if that is just something that is new for the JM1 series batteries or not but it struck me as odd.

My phone is a 9790 and I have access to all sorts of meters. Voltmeter, multimeter etc. I just am not 100% sure if a reading from a multimeter would tell me what I am looking for though...

I did read a few of the other forums on here regarding things like state of health but none of them really told me how true and reliable that value is and if it is something that can be used to prove a faulty battery when it is brand new.

Any input is appreciated on the topic of verifying the battery and the state of health value. I am not trying to extend my batter life or anything like that, just trying to figure out if my new one is a dud.

well, now that you mentioned, i've checked my 9860 (3 month old) and it's says 100%.but i really don't know if it's trustworthy.or if you should care about that.

now it's showing me only 2%. But it was 0% a few days ago. i don't really know if it's accurate or not, since I don't see any lack of performance on my battery. so far.

That is interesting. Hopefully someone comes along and finds this information helpful. I upgraded from my 9790 just recently so battery issues with that device are a thing of the past... Now I have to worry about battery issues with the new BB...
